Isn't that the rumor for every Aphex release?

Where did you read this?

warp should be smart and give him whatever he wants. aphex will be looked back on as one of the greats a hundred years from now. having him in the catalog could perpetuate a label indefinitely, like hendrix, led zeppelin, the beatles, the rolling stones. people will never stop buying aphex. maybe bassnectar sells more now but time selects those who had real vision.

Well after Syro there were two more releases so I don't think there are intentions to quit working together... I am not worried about the contract, only thing I'm worried about is that maybe rdj has gone out of the 'releasing mode' which he stated he was in in different interviews. But maybe Warp has told him to slow down, who knows...

next will be the mastered soundcloud tracks, CHEETAH EP and him upgrading to soundcloud pro again could indicate that there are going to be more soundcloud tracks

I'm hoping for something genuinely forward thinking and innovative, something truly new. He kept banging on in the soundcloud comments that he has all these mental absolutely crazy tracks, which is great and all, but like i don't really care unless i can actually listen to them you know. When do we actually get to hear them?

I feel like this might not go down too well here, but i'm not trying to diss. It's just with each new release i'm expecting something to really push the genre forward, and then we get something like orphaned deejay, which i mean it's beautifully produced and all, but it's pretty standard stuff really.

So minipops and XMAS_EVET10 aren't pushing boundaries? Surely pushing boundaries in lushness?

Hopefully we works something out with Warp. I know he mentioned something to the effect of feeling a bit stifled by their release scheduling issues, meaning he had releases ready to go but they take so long to actually get things out or work it into their release schedule. IMO Warp's artist roster has been somewhat terrible in recent years. If I were Warp....Aphex Twin releases should be top priorty.

I'd rather him feel comfortable releasing any and all music than just experimental stuff that pushes boundaries. I do think that he's saving the experimental stuff for last. It would be less climactic to release the experimental stuff and then have released the more straightforward stuff.

Didn't he mention an album of field recordings last year? I'd like to hear that.

It's hard to envisage where he could go next with a 'standard' twelve songs on a disc release now, really. Perhaps an app or an evolving random generation thing? An OST? Or, and let me just throw this out here, a live ensemble project? ;)

Yeah totally, i'm being completely selfish with my views and obviously it's good that he's just releasing what he feels like. But i have high expectations from him and i wonder sometimes, if some of the more recent stuff were released by a much smaller artist if it would not just be regarded as just kinda ok. I dunno, i think it's just like: don't tell me about this amazing experimental stuff if you're then just gonna release little acid techno tracks.
