I'm trying to listen to the debate while I'm working, but it's impossible - Trump is just so effin' stupid, his rhetorical skills are nonexistent, he's just repeating things over and over with no rhyme or reason, and it irritates me to death.

He's so stupid I'm losing IQ points every time he speaks. Fuck.

I actually disagree. I think he’s brilliant at doing what he does best: appealing to confused, ignorant, uninformed, undereducated, xenophobic, bigoted, apathetic citizens on a a purely emotional level. Facts and IQ don’t matter to them anymore. There’s definitely logic to it though, no doubt. Scary thing is how well it works.

Isn't this more about keeping Trump out of the White House and hope he dies within 4 years than scrutinising Kamala's performance? Asking for a friend.

if he loses this election and doesn’t die in the next 4 years, you know he will be back.

Spoiler

Motherfucker gotta sell hats and flags.

Hopefully Kamala will copy Trump again. She’s proposing to do it on no taxes on tips…

the "no tax on tips" thing is just so they can not up the minimum wage for servers in restaurants which is like $2.50 per hour in a lot of places. also, it means, now that the supreme court ruled that bribes are just gratuities to law makers, that he and everyone in politics, won't have to pay taxes on the bribes they receive.

this is the result of a local politician who steered a contract to a certain company and received a $13,000 payment and was found to have accepted a bribe and indicted etc.. this was overturned and he was let go and got to keep the $13,000

i’m voting for whichever candidate promises a free pizza party for everybody

Honestly dude if that’s your first reaction to this you’re really just coming across as smug and resentful towards your fellow citizens about something that could help A LOT of people from all backgrounds in this country. The whole “tee hee hee corporate pizza party” meme is laughably off base.

it just seems like he's making random empty promises as a desperate reaction to failing so hard at the debate. I'm not doubting it would help people, but why does he have this policy on thursday that he didnt even mention during the debate on tuesday? it rings hollow to me. it sounds like a kid trying to win class president in middle school.

i don't trust it. i mean, the restaurant biz is notoriously inconsistent at how it treats staff. the no tax on tips might help some people but an actual live-able wage would help more people.  and real tax reform would help even more. initially, there was a threshold that was much higher than now for federal taxes.. but the ruling class fixed that real good for themselves.

anyway.. both parties are owned by a ruling class and special interests.. one is just slightly less cruel in their domestic policy.

democrats and republicans fight in the supreme court of Pennsylvania (a key swing state) about mail in ballots: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/pennsylvania-supreme-court-mail-ballots-incorrect-dates-rcna170819

Quote

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Friday that mail ballots that are improperly dated won't be counted in November, a move that could have major implications in the closely divided battleground state.

The decision reverses a lower court ruling from last month that found it was unconstitutional to reject mail ballots that had a missing or incorrect date.

Cat fight between third-party candidate (for the Green party) Jill Stein and democrat AOC. I wanted to just post the video responses from each candidate, but they were published on social media. This video has their videos included in their response and the guy doing the vid does not seem to be a talking head jackass:

A poll from last week shows in Michigan (important swing state), that 40% of Muslim-American voters support and plan to vote for Stein: https://www.michiganpublic.org/politics-government/2024-09-09/a-new-poll-finds-a-surprising-presidential-choice-for-muslim-american-voters-in-michigan

The survey by the Council on American Islamic Relations finds 40% of Muslim-American voters in Michigan say they support Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein.

Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump (18%) and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris (12%) trail far behind in the poll.

wait. wait. wait.

he's doubling down on this after the debate?

you know back in the biden debate i thought it was odd that a couple times trump decided to start talking about how he didn't call the troops suckers and losers, like out of nowhere, and he said things like he didn't have sex with a porn star. like why are you deciding to talk about that. almost like he was trying to trim points or lose. in other ways, in the biden debate, i suspected him of trimming points, like he saw biden freeze and didn't react. the one time he took a shot at biden's awful performance was pretty mild. kind of like how he fumbled 2020 with covid, and how he seemed to be trying to lose in 2016, when he was coming out with tons of bizarrely offensive gaffes, innovating new ways to come out with offensive gaffes with impressive frequency. in 2016 i think he was trying to lose because he was compromised. in 2020 i wonder if he was trying to trim points because putin wanted him to topple the government and he wanted to do it. all he had to do was do what everyone was telling him to do, in 2020, and he would have handled covid well and he would have very likely won. he denied testing, tracing, and supplies, and he subverted expert public advisory guidance. he was deliberately sewing the seeds of unrest, creating the conditions for his coup attempt, as early as spring 2020. his reactions to the george floyd protests showed him eager to use any chance to exercise emergency powers. he wanted to invoke the insurrection act, bill barr and esper had to stand up to him and say no. lafayette square was tear gased, helicopter buzzed, there were rubber bullets and doj troopers with no insignia, it turns out commanded by bill barr and taken from the prison system, and trump was messaging that cops should exercise brutality, literally, repeatedly, like he was trying to escalate the frontlines of civil unrest during those protests.

he devoured the bait pellets kamala fed him to trigger him.

now he's doubling down on cats and dogs. does he want to lose? is he trimming points? does bannon's ai indicate that the dog narrative will win him the voters he needs? is trump just lamer since he disgraced himself with a coup?

Agree.  Hanlon's Razor.

Trump's food is the fervor, the followers.  He feeds off that, power and followers, not much else to his agenda IMO.  He thinks that more followers and the more whipped up the followers are, the more power he has.  He says these stupid things because he sees how his followers react to it, then he doubles down, triples down, then onto the next thing he thinks will whip them up.
