  1. This. This is the only flavour of Christmas that seems to remain. The entire month of December (and much of November in some places) is saturated with this and there is no way to escape it unless you don't leave your home. The forced music, the hideous lights (when did blue become a Christmas colour, by the way?), all of it seems determined to actively avoid anything tying it to the original (various) religious meaning(s) of the holiday - most of the "Christmas music" that gets force-fed to us in stores is secular, meaningless bullshit, "all I want for christmas is you" or "you broke my heart on christmas" or whatever the fuck, basically music that says nothing more than "It's Christmas! It's Christmas! It's Christmas!" (and most of this music was made solely because making a "christmas album" is a commercial opportunity, particularly if creativity has run dry and the artist needs to make some bucks and/or stay relevant in the meantime). I know more people who say they hate/resent/would prefer to skip the holiday altogether if they had the choice. Yet it keeps chugging on. Who actually likes this shit anymore? It's completely hollow, aggressively forced upon us, and we all buy a bunch of shit no one needs, for people who don't want it, with money we don't have. Shit that was probably made by people who have nothing. I grew up in a Christian household but we sort of abandoned it in my teens and I don't consider myself religious now, but I'd take the traditional Christian approach over this bullshit any day. I love winter, I find it very peaceful and reflective, and I like to imagine what December would be like if none of this existed. Dark and peaceful and quiet.
  2. Same here. His albums always require a bit of editing down otherwise. Ribbons has some really incredible stuff, but as usual I took out just about all the pop/funk tracks (except Old Graffiti, that one hits the spot somehow) and so it works out to be a really strong EP. I thought Sleep on the Wing was fantastic tho, maybe because it's a bit stripped-down and kinda reminiscent of his older stuff in some places (like Otter Shadows), and it doesn't have any of the pseudo-funk business. I only skip that Milky Way track for the cringey vocals and otherwise it's totally solid. Anyway sorry for derailing the thread I don't anticipate anything in 2022 because I am a broken person with no remaining hopes or dreams
  3. Mike P released LOADS of stuff this year cmon Some of it was pretty good too I guess he is ranked #5 of the subforum artists?? Lol
  4. This yeah. I pretty much drop these kinds of tracks from his albums entirely. I consider him one of my favourite artists, yet a sizeable chunk of his output is unlistenable to me for this reason. It's cool that he's diverse but some of it is just not for me. Mineral Love was the first one I found 100% skippable. It was cool to see him take a completely new direction with Phantom Brickworks. I think he's a brilliant musician so I'd rather hear him try something totally different than keep rehashing this corny funk pastiche stuff. IMO [Of course I'd really love to hear him return to the sound of his first three albums but that's wishful thinking ]
  5. This was my instinctual reaction at first too. I had to read it a couple of times. I don't think the bluntness of the initial statement conveys his actual point very well. I have definitely found it useful to mostly listen to stuff that's very different or far-removed from whatever I'm working on, and I think that's his main point - don't saturate yourself with the same kind of music you're trying to make, and don't try to immediately replicate your influences. Listen to foreign folk music if you're working on a breakcore album, or whatever lol. But yeah, I don't think a person has to shut themselves in a vacuum to be able to be true to their artistic vision, either. There are other ways to keep yourself focused. IMO [But then again I'm not a professional producer, and I use a lot of chance elements in my creative process. So I'm personally quite happy to listen to a cool track and think "I want to do something like that" and then end up with something completely different anyway. It's pretty much expected lol. I mean I've done some derivative shit but I'm also not trying to impress anybody. I guess if you're a professional with deadlines and quality requirements etc then his advice could be pretty useful.]
  6. Been awhile since we had a troll in this thread, welcome
  7. Sounds like good news, but what is this site? Apparently it's a small community news site based in Virginia. The article doesn't link to any outside sources. I want to believe this, but is anyone else reporting on it?

Nah I'm just using the free version, but I'll get a few different images from the same prompt, and try hyperion vs cronos. For example here's four versions of "melting face" using hyperion: And four more using cronos:

And a note on multiple images per prompt: the "cronos blend", which creates images with smoother edges that are sometimes actually quite "realistic" looking, will give more widely different results for the same prompt. On the other hand, the default "hyperion blend", which gives the chunkier and more abstract looking results, will generate images with repeated elements for the same prompt. Sometimes the differences are pretty interesting, like the map-like image for Yeesland generated with hyperion vs the landscape-like image using cronos.

What should I eat for lunch? A single plum floating in perfume served in a man's hat A man with a goat's head is eating a cheeseburger using chopsticks Waves of milk washing up on a beach of oreo cookies The face of my one true love, looking at me with disgust (This is not at all what I would have expected from that prompt ahaha) I wake up from a nightmare and find that my body is covered in thick long hair and I am sweating profusely A red wolf chases me into the dark forest where there are many evil ghosts The most horrifying thing in the world
