some of mine:

* Clark - Turning Dragon (this album is brutal)

* Aphex Twin - Richard D James Album (this album is fun)

* Autechre - Confield (still cannot compute but is fascinating)

* Can - Tago Mago (a perfect "freak your mates out" album)

* My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

usually everything else is instant like/dislike (as far as I can tell)

oh, and Untilted I cannot get into.

EDIT: ah fuck i did it again, move me and my nonsense to music discussion please

Oh yeah :

APHEX TWIN - 'Drukqs'

I didn't hate it...I was just left very confused after listening to it (a lot of mixed feelings ) But...after a few listens, it became one of my favorite albums.

confield - thought it was noise at first (but somehow knew that if i persisted it'd be rewarding), now it's my favourite ae album.

mr bungle - disco volante - took me so long to get my head around, but once again it's now my favourite of their albums.

other than that, there's not much really, especially lately - there hasn't been anything that has really shocked me upon first listen, these days i can usually tell if i like something or not right away. which is a bit depressing because i feel like i've heard everything.

i'm almost there with cornfield, i've been trying off and on for several years. i'll like it one day, dammit! i need to stop grunting when i listen to it though, the strain of trying to enjoy the music has caused me to shart on multiple occasions.

Ha! How come you've persevered so much with Confield Fred? I remember you making a thread about it ages ago.

Weird though, Confield clicked with me straight away. Pen Expers I was blown away by and I almost shat myself when I heard Eidetic Casein, felt like I knew the tune all my life. Weeeriiddirerdj.

SND tenderlove is making its move on me. Actually, most SND (aka the two albums of theirs I own). I really need to get an MP3 player, I'm sick of having tunes on my Blackberry on shuffle, miss listening to albums on the way into work.

This rarely happens with electronic albums for me. Usually the "growers" are more along the lines of Marquee Moon. Although there are some albums that I like a lot more now than I used to, for example pretty much any album Mu-ziq has put out. Other albums, like ICBYD, I used to love a lot, but have become boring.

Well it's my work phone! I had my MP3 player stolen (ARRRRGGHHH!) and haven't had the cash for a new MP3 player for ages. Think I'm gonna splash out this month though, seeing as virtually everything in life is on the rocks at the moment :emotears: I could probably do with treating myself. Currently eyeing up the Cowon S9...

I did the same thing with Confield from about 2001-2002. It took awhile. I took much the same approach you did, straining to find some way into it, only to realize that I needed to just let go and let it happen. Think of it more as an event that is happening rather than something you need to strain to analyze.
