Dark Horse already did a full on comic run with Hicks surviving after Aliens

It was basically a storyline after Aliens that had Newt in it too, at the end the Alien 3 story picks up, Newt and Hicks die, and Ripley gets amnesia (lolo)

Nah it's Newt and another dude that gets mistaken for Hicks because he's in Hicks' cryotube that crashed into Fiorina. Hicks is still alive past Alien 3 in the timeline (according to the comics anyway).

Ah OK cool that all makes sense then. Wonder how they will explain all that in the film without it being a massive cluster fuck!

And how will they explain Ripley being alive if he watched her commit suicide?

The Prometheus sequel which was previously titled Alien: Paradise Lost is having a change in its subtitle. The movie's new title is Alien: Covenant.

20th Century Fox has confirmed the film will be released on October 6, 2017. Warner Bros.’ The Jungle Book: Origins is being released on the same date.

The official synopsis is as follows.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) have written the screenplay. The movie begins production in February 2016 in Australia with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender set to reprise their roles of scientist Elizabeth Shaw and the android David.

Shaw's absence in the synopsis has led some people to conclude that her character has been axed. But it's very likely that for story purposes her fate and presence in the movie are being guarded to be revealed later on.

that was a terrible, terrible movie. not sure if it was Ridley Scott's fault though, Cormac McCarthy's script was terrible. needs to stick to the books.
