Casino Versus Japan - Frozen Geometry

Recommended Posts

"Frozen Geometry" emerged from years of sketching new textures on guitar, which were layered and looped into immersive capsules of harmony and drift. The original intention was to use them as melodic foundations for future compositions but then he "became aware of them existing on their own."

First full-length offering from legendary ambient act in over half a decade.

An intriguing opus of hypnotic beauty and peripheral consciousness.

Just came in to post this!

Immediately pre-ordered the tape, I'm a sucker for all things limited edition. Can consign it to my precious Attacknine pile!

I wonder what the total running length is? Cassette was usually 30-35 mins a side, no? 2 hourish?

was just listening to CVJ the other day, so this is his first release for a long long time? ha just scrolled up, anyway looking forward to this

It's his first release in a while but he hasn't actually released anything new since 2002.

Night On Tape and other stuff since then are all older recordings. Frozen Geometry sounds like more archive material.

Tapes can be anything from 1 minute to 120 minutes but C-45 (22.5 per side) is probably most typical, i.e. LP equivalent length. Anything from C30 to C60 is pretty common.

There was a time when I used to listen to 'go Hawaii' almost daily. Pretty excited to hear this thing in its entirety.

Massive album and my favorite CvJ release, still holds up well after all these years too

I just discovered a decade old collection of tracks buried away on an old FireWire drive I had up in the attic. The four tracks were for an album Erik was planning at the time but never came out. I seem to remember I recorded them off of MySpace. They're really lovely. It would be great if someone could validate/name them. The file is dated 'Autumn 2007'. They've never been officially released as far as I know.
