Ez guys just wondering if there are any Men Without Hat fans out there. I only discovered them about 3 months ago and they're a fuckin' amazing band from the 80s. Dunno why but they just instantly appealed to me. Also I was suprised I'd never heard them while growing up. I think their lead singer is cool as a mofo too! Here's two videos from them: My fav of theirs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZpv16dwtYE And the one they're most well know for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7movKfyTBII&ob=av2e

Recent "Classic Albums"
by Guest Backson- 19 replies
- 1.9k views
What recent albums (let's say from 2005 onwards) do you think will go on to become classics? by "classics" I mean albums that will stand above the rest and have cult followings years after their release. I am curious because its hard to compare a modern album to the giants of old, but great albums started out like any other and it seems their true legacy is recognised in retrospect.

Jon Leidecker is producing an in-depth overview on the History of Sampling. His show, entitled VARIATIONS, is available online at: http://bit.ly/9aMeSJ The first episode (http://bit.ly/bRLW2u) exposes that the idea of a completely original piece of music is fairly recent. Music was passed on through sound, through generations, even for centuries after the invention of written music. Only in the 14th century did it become standard practice for a composer to sign his name to a piece of music and claim it entirely as his own, giving rise to the cult of the individual composer. But as recording supplanted sheet music in the 20th century, the presence of communal influence…

Just got word of this a few weeks ago, that another classic EP was in the making. I've been getting pieces here and there over the last few days, and have been methodically releasing them to my Chatmm friends. Waiting on the album, I wondered what the new album would sound like...would it be more of the chilled-out, blunted beats of Jukelear Bombs, or more of the aggressive flavor that Jenk'em was? I woke up this morning with an e-mail, file attached! The album was done. It's a wide range of styles, taking cues from '80s music, Coolio, classical music, and Enya of all people. It's no one clear sound, which in my opinion, works for this album. Stories of not having eno…
