  1. Traditional Synthesizer Music is perfect and maybe his most accessible! Cavalcade of Glee... and Detrimentalist are up there too. But depending on my mood, I might want something more challenging: Songs about my cats, Huge chrome cylinder box unfolding. The last two tracks on Meathole are so good, that might shoot up my list in the future.
  2. It hasn't hit me hard yet... I've been waiting 10 years for another record but it's really no surprise that it didn't happen. It was a good way to finish, regardless. Candle was the very last song they played.
  3. This rocks! Good job on the vocals! You really nailed that disgusted tone without it sounding like a cover band or hero worship. Unconventional mixing choices. It feels like a real punch in the face. The industrial fan in me wants to hear that snare a bit more prominent, although I imagine you achieved exactly what you wanted. : - )
  4. Thank you for the kind words and listens, everyone. Here is a new one that is a bit Xenomorph inspired... with a Sinéad O'Connor sample. took forever, felt like shitting a diamond.
  5. I wonder if it's the colour saturation level that is making me feel more '300' than 'Fury Road'? Or maybe there was less in-camera practical stuff this time around. The Fury Road shoot was notoriously difficult... Or it's simply an early trailer and the cgi is still in progress. I have faith in George.
  6. My immediate reaction is that its a pretty dull single.. But then again, I feel that Thom Yorke's melodic strength has sort of fizzled out over these last few years. I miss a good hook from him. The last thing from him that really gave me goosebumps was the piano pieces from the Suspiria soundtrack.
  7. Recently I had a bit of a breakthrough in renoise and the intricate drums are flowing fast. There is no better buzz when a track is coming together easily. Thanks for listening : - )
  8. Track 2, Sincur, is super nice. The amount of gear in these videos borders on insanity. I would be paralysed with anxiety.
  9. First impressions after a few listens: I like it more than Karma & Desire. The vocals seem to work better here, imo. The meandering pianos still feel a bit too aimless at times, though. I'm not sure what it was about the NTS session that clicked with me, but I had that shit on loop. I don't expect the same to happen here, but let's see. Standouts: M2, Green Blue Amnesia Magic Haze Skipper: Typewriter world Is Azd Rain a remix of "Caves of Paradise"? Also, does anyone understand the connection to chess?
  10. Preparing a silk bedspread and good headphones for these luxury sonics tomorrow.
  11. Lovely textures and arrangement. I particularly like what's going on with that pad sound behind the funky beat.
  12. I am going to eat candy and watch The Exorcist tonight. Great holiday. Do any watmm-ers believe in Goblins and Ghouls??
  13. This is so good. A bit of John Carpenter in there. Killer combo with the image.
  14. Super interesting record. i saw this singer live last year, where she opened with a cover of the Ghost in The Shell theme. You can tell there is a high level of musicianship, yet it feels guided by intuition and not technical acrobatics or whatever. The bass sounds super nice on headphones for some reason. https://marinaherlop.bandcamp.com/album/nekkuja
  15. That NTS session is heavenly. Some sections are my favourite stuff from him in ages. That description though ....
  16. I think the interview is so good it might deserve its own thread, no??
  17. What a great interview! The bits about ambiguity, hyperobjects, walking through a forest, sadness in music, etc... it really resonates. Imagine an oral history book where they go album by album? I'd buy the shit out of that.
  18. It was fun to skim through. YouTubers seem to always force a specific type of irreverent quick paced humour that makes me feel like a national geographic anthropologist observing a subject. what's missing is the hair flip the wonky angle guy occasionally does.
  19. I was expecting more beats, but this is an interesting listen. Ominous and more compelling than most dark ambient I come across.
  20. This seems better than the last few for sure! I probably have to accept that his work simply doesn't do much for me, though. More cool in theory, but the execution always feels like collage that does not cohere. I enjoy his interviews —they usually send me down some nice google wormholes.

I feel the same at times, but think thats ok. it's challenging music.
  22. Just watched this fun video with papa eno. Not familiar with James' work but will check it out because the fragments sound interesting.
  23. The album seems to be inspired by chess in some way, which is cool. I like the colours and certain elements but not feeling this front cover...
