  1. not on youtube: squarepusher - the paris track autechre - X4
  2. yep. as far as remix albums go, it's pretty good. but that isn't much of an accolade considering how unfathomably wank most of them are,
  3. due to lockdowns/WFH, i'd say my consumption of music lately has been 50% digital library, 30% vinyl and 20% streaming (spotify) but usually it's more like 50% spotify, 30% digis and 20% vinyl (i don't have my digitals at work, and commuting eats into vinyl time) i buy a lot of music off bandcamp but i never use it for streaming... and other than regularly checking in on the user18081971 page, i rarely use soundcloud. i think i'd probably be more inclined to use bandcamp as a streaming service if they built a proper app for it, with playlist integration, etc. but sadly i can't see it fully weaning me off spotify, as it has loads of that stuff isn't on bandcamp (although in bc's defense, that does seem to be improving in recent years)
  4. i ordered a vinyl from them last month and a whole week went by before they even dispatched it, and this was pre-xmas rush/pre-black friday/pre-royal mail getting f'd in the a, so i dread to think what it's like right now.
  5. there's a severe truth to this discovered him at the start of the year, prob ended up being my most played artist of 2020
  6. was expecting/hoping he'd lock into full mental breakbeat mode near the end, but it's still a delicious as hell remix! one for the EKT heads... how is that vocal effect achieved? granular fukkery?
  7. ok so i've been feeling a little underwhelmed on the lead up to this release, but it turns out the singles (for the most part) are actually the weakest tracks on the album. i was expecting something a bit boring, but it's actually quite nice. i still definitely prefer wildflower and SILY, but this is still a worthy entry in their discography.
  8. anyone know if there's been talk of a companion EP for this one? i ended up enjoying the two age of EPs more than most of the album
  9. were these tracks played out at one of the recent afx shows then? sounds more like jenkinson to me.
  10. like someone else suggested, check out one of their albums instead. mhtrtc and geogaddi seem to be the general favourites, so maybe pick one of those and run with it. but in all fairness, you can't go wrong with any starting point. they have one of the most consistent discographies i've heard. even the EPs are all really really good. which could be why it takes them a fucking eternity to release anything lol
  11. load of new twitter likes today too - if that means anything
  12. good to have that stuff available on unarguably the best music platform out there. but it's all cheaper on the bleepstore (presumably a case of warp setting bc pricing higher to compensate the % cut) and like purlieu said, the bleepstore has all the bonus shit and the tuss! so that still seems like the better option.
  13. wasn't a cottage EP planned at one point? i'm certain it was around the time he 'announced' the cheetah EP like a year before it came out. but yeah, that dump had some truly exceptional material for those willing to invest the time. with some serious curation he could've easily formed a few albums that stood toe-to-toe with his best released work.
  14. the avalanches - we will always love you it's technically not out yet but they've already released half of it as singles, and none of them are particularly brilliant. a few of them have brief beautiful moments, some glimmers of hope, but before you can get immersed they bring in some generic, piss weak vocal to ruin the day. think it's a case of too many cooks for this one. i'm still curious to hear the other half, and i love the artwork so i'm not gonna write the entire thing off just yet, but this has been the biggest disappointment for me in 2020, as their discography (albeit brief) up until this point has been exceptional.
  15. afx yeah. sure he has his signature moves, but almost every album/ep sounds like it could have been made by a different artist, with ae, you kinda know what you're getting. (that isn't a slight against ae, btw. they've definitely had the stronger output of the two artists these last few years)
  16. i agree, but it's still difficult to find an overall placement for it. as his discography is essentially split into three distinct styles/time periods (or two, depending on how you generalise music) i find it way easier to rank his work within each era, as opposed to his work as a whole. it feels weird comparing age of to something like zones without people.
  17. had a convo with a mate earlier re: artists/bands that went away for a long time and bounced back with one of their greatest albums, or perhaps their best album these are the ones that initially came to mind... my bloody valentine - m b v (22 years) godspeed you! black emperor - allelujah don't bend ascend (10 years) a tribe called quest - we got it from here... (18 years) the avalanches - wildflower (16 years) slowdive - s/t (22 years) faith no more - sol invictus (18 years) almost included tomorrow's harvest but 7 years doesn't seem like such a significant amount of time to me (i'm sure twoism would disagree) very curious to know if there are any more post-hiatus masterpieces out there? comebacks/reunions/w'ever often leave a bad taste, but there has to be way more success stories surely???
  18. yep, it went up a fair amount over the last few hours... https://www.ebay.co.uk/bfl/viewbids/184529209534
  19. auction ended. highest bid was £16,260.30 but it didn't meet the reserve.
  20. The new album is basically a better version of this. Age Of is still a good record for the most part though. And packaging is stellar indeed.
  21. c'mon, if that's his thing then so be it. y'all wouldn't fuss over someone with religious beliefs.
  22. damn, didn't even know they'd wrapped production on s4, let alone started airing episodes! haven't seen any promo for it. looks like it's not available here in the uk yet but channel 4 will get it at 'some point'
  23. how well do ableton's pre-installed instruments fare against what reason has to offer? perhaps my biggest attraction to reason is the synths. i love the patch selection and having the ability to fully control the sounds.
  24. in all honesty, this is one of my least favourite tracks on the album, but i'm still hyped as balls to see the new video.
