  1. I remember first listening to those Tape Beatles albums in the early 00s and thinking “holy shit - that’s like half the samples on Orbus”. Considering they were rip-off artists themselves, it doesn’t phase me too much. Plus all the musical parts of Orbus aside from Alex’s piano (ha) are other producers. Speaking of Tape Beatles, anyone familiar with People Like Us? To me, she is way better at the postmodern cut and paste stuff. The Mirror is an incredible album/sound collage. https://peoplelikeus-vickibennett.bandcamp.com/album/the-mirror
  2. https://nn-audio.bandcamp.com/album/this-is-jazz Not a part of the archive, but rather a compilation of some of his jazziest tunes across his discog. Really great flow to this comp (even though I had most of the tracks already). Lots of Flanger vibes. Love the terrible stock artwork too. Lol.
  3. You still have power? Got a lot of friends freezing their asses off in Houston.
  4. Eau Rouge is one of my favorite tracks by any artist, ever.
  5. Love anything Marco puts out. He shared with me that he has an album of new material coming out hopefully in April/May. Oh man. Need digis.
  6. https://kontra-musik.bandcamp.com/album/syra Don't know how I missed this one. Tilliander is great and his last TM404 album still gets regular plays from me. Nice, slow dubbed out acid.
  7. Absolutely essential. Despite releasing so few tracks in comparison to his Likeminded peers, Nuron was one of the greatest producers of that era. I’ve been lucky enough to listen to this and will say that the remaster sounds crystal clear. Considering the only way I was able to hear these tracks for many years were low quality vinyl rips, this is especially nice. Also a super nice guy.
  8. See this is my issue (and i think many of yours) with listening to modern MoM. Literally every album (and almost every ep and one off track) they put out in the 90s was bouncy, fun, cerebral...and most of all very human sounding. Their output during this period was just about peerless imo - especially Iahora, Autoditacker, and Instrumentals - which I feel are timeless classics. It is almost not fair to compare their more recent works to the 90s era. But yesterday I listened to Autoditacker then followed up with AAI, which I probably shouldn't have done. That being said, AAI was a very engaging listen and I plan on listening again more often. I guess the AI/generative aspect of this is the point of this set -- I can see it being very appealing to fans of that generative Conditional recs type sound. Their signature voice is definitely there, and there are some really great tracks, interspersed with some spoken word and more experimental interludes. A lot of it reminds me of some of the more rhythmic stuff Vladislav Delay was putting out when he did that ep set a few years back. Curious to see what everyone else thinks about this.
  9. Big hype. @Bambi Spill the beans?
  10. A perfect tune. @Hugh Mughnus I’ll let you know after I finish Audoditacker for the millionth time.
  11. Just finished the livestream and bought the 2CD. What a journey. Speechless. Nice to see some fellow WATMMers there, too ?
  12. Listening now. I like this. Very much. Also dig your influences list. Well done @auxien, this is some of the best material I’ve heard from you.
  13. Bump to remind you all that livestream is tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing some of you guys there.
  14. Couldn't have said it better myself. From RA today: If there is one tediously retro aspect of this record, it's the fact that it's vinyl-only. Buying this one, I couldn't help but think of the New Yorker cartoon in which a man tells his friend, "The two things that really drew me to vinyl were the expense and the inconvenience." At €22 plus shipping, Public Static V. runs about twice the usual rate for a 12-inch—pretty punchy in a pandemic that's got many of us strapped for cash. Given the music is best heard as a single piece, you have to wonder about the argument against a digital format, which, beyond not needing to be flipped, would be cheaper, more globally accessible and more environmentally friendly. Even the sales notes drearily mention "delays in the production of the disc." Why not just make things easier for everyone? Sure, the artwork is cool (if you ignore what appears to be an ad for a €45 T-shirt) but the whiff of vinyl purism is this excellent record's only off-note. https://ra.co/reviews/33456
  15. Space Sweepers New Korean Sci-fi movie on Netflix. Nothing mind blowing, but really fun and visually stunning. https://www.google.com/amp/s/slate.com/culture/2021/02/space-sweepers-netflix-review-korea-movie-trans-robot.amp
  16. Finally listened to the preview tracks - couldn't wait. Sounds very promising to me. I've actually been binging on MoM lately - so many great releases. I forgot how much I liked the tunes on that EP collection, Rost Pocks too.
