exactly this. I made some interesting warm pads with it, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YE0inXjmPQydB-vmThaN4yVnQ54fc9Hu/view?usp=sharing

Any of u-he's free offerings? They even have a free zebra now. OB-XD comes to mind. And dexed. And what thawkins said. Could also sample some orchestral strings or something and throw those into simpler/sampelr.

Or supermassive (free by valhalla, should have that anyway if you don't already) plus the free stuff from spitfire?

Tal noisemaker is a good one stop shop also. But TheBro if you are on ableton suite I have soooooooo many patches I’ve made that are atmospheric.

Check out Chimera.  It's an old windows based Vsti that uses white noise and resonance to make really interesting pad sounds(among other things):

Yeah tried to run it in Live but no luck. I use to have that VST.

I don't know what version of live you're running, but the stock synths aren't half bad.

oh you're running suite? use the ableton synths if you're having trouble with vsts man. the interface is kind of off putting at first, I know, but they get the job done.

Have you tried J-Bridge?  I think it's old enough to be a 32 bit plug.  I definitely have it running on 10, but haven't loaded it up yet on Live 11.  I'll double-check tho.

Aye it's a lovely old 32bit plugin so would need a 32->64 bit plugin bridge for Ableton 11 (like your aforementioned jbridge - which I use exclusively for destroy fx plugins !)

Jbridge is fantastic - destroy FX, gah, still so good after all these years.

Check out Vital - https://vital.audio/  Way more powerful/user friendly than a free synth should be (you can pay for higher tiers that unlock more presets - but otherwise it's fully functioning in the free version, and you get enough presets to start wrapping your head around what it can do anyway). In some ways, actually think this thing is better than Serum ...

anybody want to  make a list of good 32 bit vsts?

Chimera and the Bionic Delay plugs are the main reason I have jBridge.  Also I found the original dBlue Glitch easier to work with than the 2nd version, because the random steps repeat in the same way at the same time for each playthrough(unless you play with the total length of the track).  I used stick it on a drum track, then render the parts that sound cool and ditch the rest.

ZynaddsubFX aka Zyn-fusion

I have a Zynthian, which is basically a raspberry-pi poweered hardware version of it. But as a plugin it's been out since the 90's and little has beaten it. Confusing UI but you'll eventually get there. Here is a track I made only with this one.

What? You can use any plugin/instrument.

I guess TheBro got some weird ransomware that disables attack/release controls on any VST he installs. So the only way is to find something that comes with the correct defaults. ?

Chimera is fucking great. Thanks for reminding me the name, been searching it for a while again.
