Aphex Twin jazz band covers aphex twin!

as noted by someone in another thread, the phrase jazzband has taken on its own meaning on this forum and has itself become pretty annoying, at least to me. but when's the last time anybody actually checked out the cover version from which the meme arose?

the drummer is good... i particularly like the way he puts in the stuttery triplets. the pianist however plays with little soul... too much consistently harsh velocity.

yes, and the bass is not arranged well and does not mix well with the melody

well the bass player is there presumably to add emphasis to that section of the song (and onwards) - but he is overpowered and obsolete when accompanied with the harsh piano playing.

That band consists of some of the most killing musicians today. If you want to see what they've really got, go download their cover of 'Velouria'; one of the most gorgeous pieces of music I've ever experienced.

 

I must concede, however, that, yes, this cover is pretty damn lame.
