2004-01-27 - Australia-Melbourne - Prince Of Wales-St Kilda - Hotel Melbourne - Aphex Twin & Luke Vibert - C - Sound is loud and clear but the recording is distorted. Personally I turn this recording up loud or listen to it with headphones and still really enjoy it but many others have commented that it is "heavily distorted".

AlexPallas, I have a 1st or 2nd (whatever a copy from the master is) gen copy of this gig, want to do an online trade for one of your lossless aphex or squarepusher shows?

yo does anyone know if they have this aphex vs vibert (radio show i think ) like an hour or 2 of music, with every now and then aphex and vibert talking, aphex says something like "hello to customs agents who have to search us alot, you must not be getting enough from yer missus" or something. has a funky whistled version of "sittin on the dock of the bay"

Oh and in part two, the track at 22 minutes is a Ceephax one, I think it's either Hull Drum & Bass or Trolley Service off Exidy Tours. At 23.25 it's still the same track. Hope that helps

Wanted to know what that Skeptic tune was for years :)

Solo Strike - nice one, thanks for your IDs, definitely going to look into those.

Now if only someone could ID the breakbeat/hip hop track that mixes in at 54 seconds I'd die a happy man :). I was so desperate to know what that tune is I sent an email to the email address that's available on the Rephlex site asking if Richard could ID the tune. Needless to say I've not had a response yet as the email is for booking Rephlex artists to play at gigs, but it's pretty much the closest thing that I can see to a point of contact for Richard. I've been downloading hundreds of old school electro and hip hop tracks on soulseek trying to find it without any luck yet.

Alex - like Solo says, I'm 90% certain that it's the same set, and I listen to snippets of it nearly daily on my iPod :). He plays jungle tunes at the end of the first part and the second part then opens with a jungle tune. The whole thing just flows together so well, I'd be really surprised if they're two different sets.

edit - Oh and btw, if anybody wants unmixed versions of any of the tunes in the set msg me on soulseek and I'll sort you out, I have the same username as on here.

Head over to penguingod's ridiculous AFX gigography for a veritable cornucopia of information. It's about three years out of date, as I've been busy doing other stuff since, but at the time it was the most comprehensive collection of such information ever assembled.

Mad props for putting all that out there.

I miss this place sometimes.

Great link, I take it this guy is uncontactable if the site hasn't been updated in a while? It'd be good to see what recordings he still has and can share

I've got the 'Volume Four' compilation CD/book from 1992 which has an interview with RDJ, if that's of any interest. Nothing spectacular that you haven't read a million times before, but it may be interesting from an historical perspective. Most interesting thing is that he mentions his plans of making an ambient album for R & S.

I haven't tried scanning it yet, but I'd best warn you it certainly won't be the best quality.
