I love Stars of the Lid! Brian Eno also has some good stuff, particularly Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks, though my fave Eno song is 2/2 from Music for Airports. William Basinski is a great ambient composer and who among us hasn't gone to sleep while listening to The Disintegration Loops? Loscil is cool too, but a bit more relaxing than sleepytime music, not that Basinski is only good for "lullabyes".

The Orb: Adventures and Terrarum are the only two I really class as ambient

KLF: Chill Out

yes. also live 93. there's no greater album for playing loud and laying down in the grass in your back garden while trashed on cider.

unfortunately i bought the lp of chill out from selectadisc in notts ages and ages ago, which turned out to be the bootleg, which seems to have been mastered from mp3s. there's even the 2 sec gap in between tracks...

i'd like to add dead eros' "the life in the world of existence is done", just cos i like droning on about that album.

p.s. i have a cd i bought from you ages ago called "purlieu". i assume you're second thought. it's rather good, so i'm nominating it in this thread.

FSOL: Lifeforms, Environments II, and pretty much everything really

The Orb: Adventures and Terrarum are the only two I really class as ambient

Biosphere: Most of it, but particularly Substrata and Cirque

Spacetime Continuum: Sea Biscuit

Aphex: Both Ambient Works, particularly II

Eno: Ambient 1 and 4

Global Communication: 76:14

KLF: Chill Out

Gas: Zauberberg (never really dug the other three)

Woob: 1194

And a whole heap of other obvious stuff

Also,

Apollyon: Veror Aesik

Encomiast: Espera

Off-Land: Commute

Wintermute: Widescreen

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden

And anything of Underworld's that's mellow and chilled, which is a fair bit.

I havent long joined this bboard and have been browsing through some of the topics but i felt i needed to reply and say thanks for putting my album Veror Aesik as one of your favourite ambient music albums :)

ApollyoN is now retired but its still nice to think that my swan song album is still liked.

So...erm...thanks :D

Still gets played around these parts, yeah! Such a shame H/S doesn't put stuff out these days, it was a brilliantly consistent label.

(You might also want to check my thread in the WATMMixers forum ;) )
