So, if you were only allowed listen to one WATMM artist only for the rest of you days. Knowing full well what they have to offer. Who would it be.

I know the place is full of Aphex fanboys but personally he doesn't do the whole deal for me.

For me, it's the The Black Dog. Just something about their music that lets you listen to it over and over and still come away with a new perspective on it.

I know I know, there is going to be a bitch about "Oh, you cant divide Plaid and tBD on two separate lines it's more complex than that". Well, I just did. Pick one.

If I'm honest though, there was Autechre and BOC competing for 2nd and Squarepusher running a very close 3rd.

Your thoughts please .......

Definitely The Black Dog too.

I have been listening to it for about 8 years now, and with each new listen i increase my love for their music

EDIT: Not the current TBD. Not denying it's quality, but it sucks compared to early BDP and TBD.

my gut said squarepusher, then i thought about it and chose autechre over aphex twin because rdj doesn't release as much as autechre

this is a really tough question for me in some ways. while it's easy for me to say that i would quite easily choose to listen squarepusher only out of this group, my life needs some vibert and afx thrown in there to feel complete, so to speak. afx just makes some totally fucking awesome, sublime music, and i love vibert's wacky-ass spin on just fun-to-listen-to tunes.

on the flip side, i wouldn't feel too bad about excluding mu-ziq or cylob. mu-ziq has some good stuff, but i don't think he holds a candle to the aforementioned artists in my post. cylob's just alright.

definitely autechre. with squarepusher in a close second. the quality of rdj's releases has been waning since drukqs, imo. ae and squarepusher are the only watmm featured artists who are still innovating, also imo.

i voted autechre because they are the only one on that list that i get excited over when they release something.

black dog then aphex come next i guess. the novelty has worn off for me with squarepusher. i still love his stuff, but the last release i ever bought of his was ultravisitor. i never even heard one track from the next albums.

i think you have it a lil bit wrong man, but just a lil bit, mind. :)

you should have Plaid + The Black Dog/BD Productions, and then the seperate catagory for new tBd (Dust-Driven_dogpoo).

you don't need to divide Plaid at all as Plaid are out on their own, and brilliant artists, and Plaid ARE the fucking Black Dog!!!!

but, to make proper sense of it, i think what you should've divided is CLASSIC old school The Black Dog/BD Productions, and the new tBd (Dust-Driven_dogpoo).

boards of canada, there's something a little more timeless about their music than the others.

BoC have that 'Bagpipe' sound, i noticed... like an underlying constant tone to a lot of their tracks.. which i mean in a good way..

listen to some Scots bagpipes, you'll see what i mean :)

well i'm gonna go with cylob. if i had to listen to nothing but one artist, i'd probably go insane anyways, so i might as well hasten the insanity by going with cylob. and i don't mean that as a bad thing, no no no. i'd imagine cylob-induced insanity would be a great kind of insanity.

also just threw some on since it's frankly been way too long and i could never get tired of his particular style of knob-twiddlage
