Many of you will know that I use Apple products and think that some of their stuff is of very good quality, providing me with the best economic return (please note this does not mean other companies don't produce quality goods). I have not however been in favour of how Apple has conducted itself with regards to its last few years of overt litigiousness, especially in matters as frivolous as design patents.

So I view this ruling as a very good thing.

lol.

I love Apple products but they are a shitty evil company.

I'll still buy their products, turn a blind eye on the evil stuff they do and hope karma or hell aren't real.

its about time. someone needed to put apple in their place.

unfortunately, it's only a small victory that will be very quickly rendered impotent. already it's relevance to HTC is pretty small, since it's only valid in the UK.

This becomes more and more and more and more ironic with every passing year.

Any chick worth dating won't care.

And yeah sergeantk - it's been a depressing process.

the thing is - other lawyers fighting bullshit patent lawsuits can look at this ruling and present the prior art as evidence that Apple's patents are either invalid or deserve more scrutiny.

I don't mind patents that are legitimate, ie. those which allow the inventor of a product time to recoup his investment off sales of said innovative device.... but software patents are, in the main, bullshit.

As terrible as Apple is, at least most of their products are good. I thought iPads were stupid until I used one.

edit:

girls don't like boys girls like cars and money

this is the best we can hope for. but then again, i'm not an optimistic guy...

chicks dig guys with iPhones.

Maybe in 2007

iPhones (and smartphones) are pretty ordinary nowadays, everyone has one.

i don't have one. no-one in my family has one.

Doesn't change the fact that iPhones and smartphones are pretty ordinary.

A) Use of comic-sans font results in an automatic 10 week suspension

B) you don't say ;)

C) You don't have a smartphone?

edit: Africa Hitech cases? link please?

Something to make you maybe a bit less pessimistic in this particular instance:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-07-04/htc-mobile-phones-don-t-infringe-apple-patents-u-k-judge-says.html

Specifically:

The U.K. court judgment “marks a considerable defeat for Apple in the smartphone patent wars,” said Peter Bell, an attorney at Stevens & Bolton LLP, who isn’t involved in the case. “Two of Apple’s prize patents have been knocked out in the U.K.”

TBH, our company provide iPads and I can't be bothered to use it. I'd rather fuck around on my PC with Windows, my Macbook Pro, or if I need something to sit on the couch with, my iPhone.

I rarely find a use for it and I think it's awkward to hold onto. *shrug*

By the way, it could be worse. They could be Microsoft: patenting little tiny piles of dogshit, one at a time since 1975 aka. the same year I took flight from my mother's womb.

I love my iPad, but I think they're mainly useful for education. I don't know what I'd do with it in a business setting. Without buying a bluetooth keyboard case for the thing (as I did), it doesn't seem like it'd do that much to assist in meetings, etc. A livescribe pen would be ideal for meetings though, and much cheaper...

re: patent wars, good for HTC. Sounds like they deserved to have this case go their way.
