There's very vague law in Italy regarding the same issue, and a couple was banned from naming their child "Venerdi" (Friday) by the courts there, which is pretty crazy and hypocritical considering Italian celebrities have named their children more bizarre things.

Roman Numerals III is a pretty good name.

I also know a woman whose dad who, when he registered her name at the city hall, was drunk. Her name remained the same, but she officially ended up with a dozen middle names. I'm not kidding. The names included a bunch of Belgian kings and a few popes. I wish I remembered them all, but she's not so keen on reciting them again...

Totally agree.

I used to work with a girl called Princess, her family are Iranian, I know there is a name in Iranian which translate to Princess so maybe they cut to the chase?!

She was so awesome.

I've known twins who were named Fauna and Flora.

If you don't think that's awful, you're a misanthropic hippie.

not to mention their cousin, Dynamo Hum

mafia no fear

indeed, no fear.

I'm totally in favor of banned names, it's just about doing the poor child a favour.

Not like in the US or South America.

Banning bad taste, what is there not to like ?

Sarah is Hebrew for princess.

I'm all for banned names in the sense of protecting children, so long as it's a very sensible name-by-name basis. After all, the fact that English speakers still use biblical names often is a bit crazy, I mean mine "Joshua" is a figure in the book who lead the Israelites after Moses, and among other things, helped them all get magically circumcised as a group on some hill with help from the Ark.

i used to know a chinese guy called wy-ying yik. more commonly known as just wy.

people would ask what his name was and he'd say

"wy"

and they'd say

"because i want to know!"

ah...the laughs we had...

the main thing is with names is that if its anything slightly out of the norm people get it wrong-

I cant tell you how many times ive been called:

Laura/Lauren/Tara/Sarah

People cant deal with Rix either- that usually becomes: Ricks, Rox, Rhys
