The governor of Louisiana signed a bill on Friday that adds two medications commonly used to induce abortions to the state’s list of controlled dangerous substances.

The legislation makes possession of the medications without valid prescriptions or orders from medical professionals punishable by up to five years in prison. Pregnant people who obtain the medications for their own consumption would not be subject to prosecution, according to the legislation.

The National Park Service is effectively prohibiting uniformed employees from marching in public events that “could be construed as agency support for a particular issue, position, or political party,” according to internal memos and documents shared with NBC News. This effective ban would extend to Pride marches, according to those documents.

This sucks, but to be fair, the gov't has always been like this.  They're not saying that the employees can't march, just not while in park service uniforms.

I worked at a gov't lab from 2008 - 2010 and there were multiple emails regarding what you could / couldn't do with respect to the 2008 & 2010 elections.  IIRC, you couldn't put any specific candidate or party signs on your office door or endorse any specific candidate or party in any official email.  You were allowed to have endorsing stickers / magnets on your car.  Can't remember the rest.

yeah, NPS is on their Insta bragging about/promoting Pride events for June. same goes for wearing a military uniform under specific circumstances, etc. mostly reasonable.

curious how long before that gets challenged in courts. i'm sure someone here's going to try and use the courts to ban the meds.

There is still an embargo and Americans are not allowed to travel for tourism, but there are several reasons for which we are allowed to travel.  Look it up; the most popular is, "to help and support the Cuban people."  Supposedly, you're supposed to do something like 40 hours worth of helping the people each day, and you're supposed to keep receipts that they can check for up to 5 years or something.

Man, the days in Cuba are hella long
