Also obvious, but needs to be said, anything by Dam-Funk. Love this jam especially.

Donald Byrd - Black Byrd

Eddie Henderson - Sunburst (HIGHLY recommended for fans of Headhunters/Thurst/Flood)

Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul

[youtubehd]FCzElCx_LK8[/youtubehd]

The J.B.'s - Anything, literally one of the funkiest bands of all time (Led by soul brother number one James Brown, what do you expect??)

(Hold on til the breakdown at 2:30 for maximum funk overload here)

Also gotta give some love to old RHCP, as terrible as they are now they definitely had their funk game on lock for Blood Sugar Sex Magick.

Return to Forever - No Mystery (especially) and Where Have I Known You Before?

And also tons of Vibert, Drexciya, Simulant, Aux 88, Jimmy Edgar, etc. but feel like most people here are already pretty familiar with those.

That reminds me... Austin Peralta (RIP... way too young) - Endless Planets.

Great modern jazz album, right amount of swing for me in the piano. I'd consider it a bit funky.
