One of the best things I've heard all year, one of the most arresting albums I've heard all year (I need to give it some more repeats before I call it one of the best), I think some of you might like it. Dude is a weird 3D animation producer on youtube and this is his debut album. Some strong Ferraro and 0PN vibes.

yeah can't take much credit - just another spotify rec this morning - I'm nowhere near the level of crate-digging or label browsing as you or many others are here on WATMM

 

I was like "why do I know that" when I saw the name and I realized it's the same guy behind this youtube channel. I've seen his vids on the YT thread 

 

(nsfw) / pretty wtf  - nightmarish but often funny, very xavier renegade angel-esque but also stuff I'd imagine being shown as visuals for a Residents or 0PN or Arca show

By the way, yesterday I stumbled upon a very cool Android app called Nightwave Plaza which is an ad-free vaporwave radio station. It's lightweight (< 2Mo), free, has strong aesthetics AND I had the pleasure to hear some Solo Jazz Cup and Donovan Hikaru tunes on it :)

Don't know if it exists on iOS as well tho !

Congrats on the Solo Jazz Cup album! 

I dip in and out of this thread every now and then, usually the music is hit and miss - but that album is definitely a hit! 

 

 

 

Good stuff! Digging this... but also a bit perplexed as to what he's actually doing with that sampler?

Is each song just broken into loops which he's jumping between, then a few stabby one-shot samples and some internal effects to tie it all together? Is it all his music or a mix of stuff?

Yes, I like it quite a bit. It's not the best vapourware I've ever heard but then the genre is so varied now I don't think anyone can really decide what is and what isn't vaporware. I also like the cover. It's probably taken from a 1980s Japanese commercial because Japanese women here don't dress that way now and that hair style and those earrings practically define fashion over here in the 1980s.
