Sad news. I offer my libations for Egon.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I think of him as the man who saved "Ghostbusters" from being a complete and total train-wreck. It sounded to me like he's the one who made the plot as interesting as it is (disgraced academics turning to the private sector with their research technologies). From my memory, the original idea that Dan Akroyd had developed with Belushi was pretty ridiculously stupid. Is that right?

shit...so much for Ghostbusters 3

I suspect that this will only make the movie even more inevitable and exponentially worse without his involvement.

Sad. RIP Egon. I'll be pouring out a lil bit of slime mold tonight.

Caddyshack and Animal House will always be more funny & clever than all the imitators they spawned combined. Here in the states the Biography channel recently (maybe a couple of years ago) made documentaries on the making of each, both of which are longer than the films themselves. Pretty amazing to find out how shit these movies could have been were it not for the genius of Mr. Ramis.

One thing I can count on is that WATMM doesn't miss letting people know a notable celebrity or performer passed on. You guys obviously care about your childhood heroes or people that influenced it enough to honour them with mention of their passing so we can all reflect and pay respects.

Fixed that for you.

I don't see a problem with that. Nobody's been nasty about him at all so what's the problem?

Oh, it's a horrible affliction - CynicalBastardItis™ - affects far too many, but sadly is not a fatal condition.

Guest bitroast

I never even realised he directed National Lampoon's Vacation until today. Spooky! I was talking about that film just yesterday (saw a car packed near the exit of an empty car park and instantly thought of Vacation(which is actually my favourite comedy film (sorry ghostbusters!))).

But then,, it's not too spooky, seeing as I reference or talk about national lampoons vacation nearly every second day.

The dude has been involved with some pretty spectacular films and comedy moments. Sad to see him go.

Will definitely make the Ghostbusters videogame the next console game I play after dead space. A tribute, if you will???!
