What do you think Syro will contain?

So, thanks to some Mulder-level detective work, we know what some tracks will be; post-analord, melodic, wonderful acid-ish stuff.

But do you think the whole album will be this? Will we get some drill, some barbican?

Thoughts.

Seems like it's gonna be very Tuss, lush Tuss. Considering that Pitchfork bit: "SYRO features unintelligible vocals from James, his kids, his wife, and his parents", I'm expecting lots of little bits like what was done on Rushup Edge. Vocoders throughout, "what did i do wronnnnnnng" etc. Big difference between Metz and Singapore too... The album speeds up towards the end going by the BPMs & Singapore track is right in the middle of that section. Just thinking.

Going by what we've heard so far, I'm in love with the direction it should be taking.

it will contain a Richard face, some jokes, some squelch, some crazy drum patterns, some intricate passages, some lush pads, some sad melodies, some piano and some jokes.

yep, very tussy, but different atmosphere, more prepared piano and percussion, more organic than tuss and analord, something like the best moments of analord but with much more sophisticated sound. but I want to be surprised.

I'm hoping Syro contains "hit tracks". The whole Tuss Analord Steinballz whatever other monikers-- there's a lot of quality there, but not really anything that stands out like a "hit underground track for the people" or whatever the fuck.

"Hit tracks" from previous Aphex Twin releases:

Digeridoo

Flaphead

On

Donkey Rhubarb
Acrid Avid Jam Shred
COME ON, YOU SLAGS!
Alberto Balsalm
4
To Cure A Weakling Child
Girl/Boy Song
Logan Rock Witch
Milkman
Come To Daddy
Flim
Windowlicker
54 Cymru Beats
Meltphace 6
Of course there are a lot more, but jus' sayin'...! For example!
Basically everything he does is good, but the Aphex Twin moniker does seem to be associated with highly memorable electronic tracks, which is pretty special. There are very few artists who have so much memorable output. Even good artists tend to release "non-memorable generic goodness".
Yah, so-- I'm looking for such memorable loveliness from da Aphex Twin.

the only thing i'm hoping the most for is that it will contain chartreuse stickers

i'm hoping a warp rep delivers it personally to you. he'll hug you at the door as you tear up, kiss your forehead, and then step aside. "it's time", he says with a smile. an afx branded helicopter flying above will then dump gallon after gallon of beautiful, radiant chartreuse paint all over you and everything around you as the warp rep cries of joy uncontrollably. as you look up into the sky, the clouds part, the sun shines through and you finally feel whole.

then you put syro on and it's only quite good.

agreed,

my fav RDJ tune is definitely Alberto Balsalm,

everything suggest it's one of the biggest electronic masterpiece ever created (among few others from several peeps),

and im begging for something that haunting and put me in total immersion

also i love all the one you mentioned but i'm surprised you didn't mention Vordhosbn because this one is probably his best performance/work considering technique, melody, the message, the build up and i want something this mindblowing, i've waited too long and i've listened to RDJ so often.

weird because before the "new shit is imminent" thread, i was listening on my weekly basis some SAWs or Drukgs

and now i'm sort of rejecting them a bit because my frustration to not have more is now quenched and i'm super excited, i try to not go too far on expectations because being underwhelmed by this album is something that will broke a part of me,

so now, i'm doing an effort to not listen any RDJ music until it's out, to create a sort of "fresh ears stage" on this

edit: hell imma postin the youtubes

So much this. I liked Tuss/Analord, but found that the tracks mostly sounded like jams, rather than being exquisite compositions like what's on Drukqs.. with the exception of Analord 10. If Syro contains any tracks as good as Fenix Funk 5/xmd5a, I'll be pretty satisfied.
