Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor who served as Beats Music’s Chief Creative Officer and moved to Apple through the acquisition is the ‘point man’ on designing the iOS 8.4 Music app overhaul we reported earlier this year which will include the Beats Music-based streaming music service. Reznor described his current role at Apple in an interview last fall as designing for a project around music.

Let's hope for higher bitrates and more reasonable revenue sharing with the artists. I understand Apple is one of the worst on the latter point. As a result i always try and purchase direct from the artists or from other sites before hitting up the itunes store.

Same here. I avoid the itunes store at all costs and have purchased 1 album from them in the last several years because it was the last resort. I don't even think of them as a place to buy music, but as a storage locker for the music I buy elsewhere.

Conversely, I was receiving a former co-worker's e-mails for a time and every week or so she would get a receipt from itunes with a few mainstream pop songs purchased.

i still just don't understand why iphone music still doesn't have albums in folders any more. so much useless scrolling when it comes to aphex, autechre, etc.

i kind of assumed it was something they'd fix eventually when it first came out but nope, still there. i know this article is referring to music streaming but still.. gotta fix the little things first before moving onto the big things. ios is getting more and more bloated with these nuanced little things.

eep, sorry to dwell on my little side tangent.

iphone music, it used to sort the music by Artist view > then Album view (list of openable albums) > individual album.

now it's Artist view > view all songs.

i know there's album view but god damnit i prefer to navigate my music collection by artist first. i can't for the life of me fathom why they thought taking one step to disorganise the music collection was the better way to organise the music. i have so much shit on my phone it literally lags and has little delays opening folders and scrolling around lol.

artist view

tap aphex twin. wait 3 seconds because too many songs in folder.

open every song at once instead of artist > album view.

there is a parallel universe in which Ae have 're-designed' the new music app and it does nothing but play the brief horn stab sample from Sublimit when you tap/click on it.

Ah yeah, for sure - I feel you there. I prefer to keep things organized by artist as well. Probably why I have so little music on my actual phone, i use the streaming more now. I think the only things I have on there are the Aphex/µ-Ziq soundclogs.

Do you guys actually think ol' t-rizzy's wife is hot? I mean, she's not ugly, but I would never put her in the "hot" asian category.

I also think the bagging on him cause he has muscles is ridiculous, considering how much people talk about getting exercise in GenBan...

but the text and images keep morphing and degrading making it extremely difficult to hit that button. that is until they release the next version and everybody suddenly "gets" how to make the horn stab on the previous version.

Trent Reznor is the Will.I.Am of the emo industrial punks

I didn't even know this was a category but I concur wholeheartedly. I took The Fragile as a forgivable misstep with some moments of brilliance. Then, each following album proceeded to chronicle his glorious vision quest with increasing proximity to the holy grail of wank, with his marketing genius as his trustiest weapon in slaying the remaining dragons of good taste.

The way I see it, he is a perfectly snug fit for Apple's anus and they'll get along like donuts and jelly.

I would say it's his "grandest" album. It's definitely at least "pretty darn good" but it's also overengineered, overwrought, overblown. Two fucking discs, how much of that is filler, really? It's the Apocalypse Now of 90s (yeah, fine, 2000, I still file it in that category) rock albums. It's surely a cliche but I do believe tDS is his best, especially when you factor in all the related EPs with fucking brilliant remixes by the likes of Danny Hyde, Coil, Jack Dangers, Richard D. Motherfucking James, and of course Charlie Clouser. Opinions are like jellied anuses tho innit.
