AFRODEUTSCHE - Break Before Make (SKAM)
splesh replied to Extralife's topic in New & Upcoming Releases

Better late than never. Some people get all huffy about the underground art, music, film, etc. they love becoming better known but I'm thankful for it. And yeah, that Ars Technica article is very good. Really touches on some important stuff with regards to depoliticizing and whitewashing a musical project whose blackness and decolonial message are so pivotal to it

According to the twitter thread, they're Joni Mitchell lyrics

Fucking incredible, really solidifies how good they are at sampling, some of that chopping is just nuts. Also, I guess this seals it, it's "from sand to stars" not "from sand to sky" or "just fantasize", or anything else.

Have enjoyed his other productions, and this sounds good. Always looking fwd to more from Mr. Powers

Varying degrees of likeliness but: Footwork: Jana Rush: Pariah was 4 years ago. Last EP was a bit longer. Jlin. Black Origami was 4 years ago. C'mon.... RP Boo. I'll Tell You What was 3 years ago. Last EP before that, 5 years ago. Om Unit. imo, this is where Jim shines. Techno: Mark Ernestus: All the stuff with Ndagga Rhythm Force was 8 years ago. I know he's not hung it all up and called it a day. Oscar Mulero. It's been three years since a full length. Scan X. Most recent release was 4 years ago with Alien Language. Jungle Tim Reaper. Need Money for Laptop came out 6 years ago and has been steadily producing EPs and singles since. Forest Drive West. Jungle Crack was cool.Terminus was even cooler. C'mon. Would love a full length of Martyn focusing more on his jungle side. Bass It's a bit of a long shot, but it would be cool if Batu did a full length. ANZ. It'd be cool if she did a full length since those mixes of hers are super hard to come by and she's great and getting better all the time. Simo Cell. Yeah he put out that recent thing with Skee Mask but something more substantial would be nice. Ditto for J-Zbel. Mumdance.... please, man. We love your mixes but give us something more. Facta. Please? Distal. Any chance? More Hebbe! Maybe another Timedance sampler? Yak. Orson. NKC. Syz. Please, some hard drum LPs in 2021. Some full lengths on Pressure Dome maybe?

If I remember right, it's the music from their ballet, which I recommend watching.

Great sounds. From what I can recall he stands apart from his peers... just has a real deep sense of what works, the comparison to 'chre seems apt, he has his own sonic unive rse
