MP3's aside, i'm talking about material music collection and that could include cassettes.

so somebody shoots off a bottle rocket and an ember of it floats down and lights up your house. it burns to the ground (luckily your cat escape) but your whole record/CD/cassette collection has melted into a lump of plastic. you've got no insurance.

stripping it down to the bare essentials, what do you have to rebuy?

I back up my cds in flac, so I wouldn't really need them again.

But I still might get Mira Calix-One on One, Brian Eno-Apollo Sountrack, Autechre-Confield, Squarepusher-Go Plastic, and Squarepusher-Just a Souvenir. And possibly also Wagon Christ-Tally Ho. I love those albums a bit too much.

My analords and a handful of jungle 12"s.

Namely:

DJ Zinc - Super Sharp Shooter

Sniper - dubplate pressure

Remarc - R.I.P.

Skeng Gee - connections

Bloodclat gamers youth - kill or be killed 7"

Prisoners of technology - trick of technology

Anything by Technical Itch, Gang Related & Mask or anything on Suburban Base, Congo Natty or Ganja.

Also

Devo - Hardcore volumes 1&2

David Bowie's early 90s Rykodisc reissues.

my High On Fire and Metallica records

Maybe a few others.

A surprising amount of the music I own on CD is out of print, since it's a bunch of obscure industrial shit. I wouldn't even have the option to re-buy it.
