I will ignore "trance superstar" John O'Callaghan and the shit he churns out, and leave out the Solar Bears, who have their own threads here. I will also play down our ownership of the Aphex Twin. Think this lot cover minimal, techno, deep house and electronica anyway and are a pretty good advertisement for this little island...

Not exactly current, but what about Ambulance and Sunken Foal? Overall, I can't see any reason why Ireland shouldn't be proud of it's recent musical heritage.

Sunken Foal is feckin great stuff. Only recently discovered him.

Some real gems on dublin's Psychonavigation label

Hopefully the Anodyne remixes ep will get them a bit of exposure. They've been around for 10 years, and seem to have been working under the radar mostly.

The Redneck Manifesto are worth checking out, although mainly instrumental/math rock type stuff.

this is off their free ep from a bunch of years ago which was a little more experimental in terms of electronic production

Saw this guy at a very small exclusive festival in wicklow, Chassis will back me up on his dj skills. Mostly hiphop, electro and a little dnb.

thats the actual gig we were at (crappy audio sorry), I distinctly remember him playing My Red Hot Car followed by a Joy Orbison track, quality tent rave.

heres a free mix

he's a radio dj. plays lots of good stuff. think john peel.

Another Kerryman! Remember seeing him play in Dublin in the 90s. Think it was RíRás. He was pretty good. Haven't tuned into Today FM in a long time.

As for Kerrymen...looking back now I was so excited at seeing Killarney boys support the Prodigy that I overlooked the fact that it was pure cheese...

HAHAHAHA! Look at that cover!!! HAHAHA!

If you listened to the album you wouldn't say that, as its one of the finest Irish electronic lps of all time in my humble and slightly biased opinion. The "Igloo" is the name of Mick's studio and the "Tales" are his tracks which tell a story through a strong narrative of ambient, idm, electro and dub techno. The idea was to create music that sounded like it was made in an "Igloo" and what would the music sound like? Pretty cool idea I think. Have a listen to the first track off the album and you'll get an idea of the mood Mick wanted to create.

Btw the artwork was done by Jeroen Advocaat and as somebody has already mentioned and he has designed covers for Sending Orbs and others.

The inlays continue the theme with the great idea that the cd itself is the roof of the Igloo and when you take it out of its holder you see inside the Igloo and see that it's a studio :-)

So I'd say as a whole the design is way more thoughtful than most "electronica" cds I've seen as Mick commisioned (ie paid) Jereon to do the work and the concept for the design mostly Mick's too afaik.

You can laugh all you want but I think your mirth is misguided :-)
