weird sounds like that Nebraska guy doesn't know how to actually resample something/slow it down properly. lots of time stretching/pitch shifting up in that bitch (sorry if its anyone here, if it is Ill show you how to slow down a sample without time stretching it)

Meant to post this earlier, one of my favorite labels put this out this batch of tapes w/ this boss poster:

4-600x800.jpg

Not quite vaporwave, more straight-up, summery synth ambient. Though this release of the batch has some vaporwave elements to it imo: http://ctatsu.bandcamp.com/album/documentaires

the official heaven's gate website seems kinda vapourwave to me

Some truly insider infoz. They start off by wasting ZERO time. Look at that opener: Whether Hale-Bopp has a "companion" or not is irrelevant from our perspective.

It's the question we've all been dying to know.

who is the guy in this forum who had the robocop avatar who made a bunch of decent jams in the style of Eccojams? was it Spore? Where the fuck are you spore

I remember that, though I have never seen it.

The only way to slowdown a sample without time stretching is to lower the pitch. There are 3 ways to manipulate a sample's speed/pitch. You can affect the pitch without changing the speed, the speed without changing the pitch--and both of those require a software time stretch algorithm (ableton's is nice). Alternately, you can affect both the speed and pitch, which is the analogue method. Both time stretching and analogue have their place, but for the purpose of eccojams, the analogue method is best, because it preserves the entirety of the original sample? Depending on what software you use, you should be able to do all 3. Audacity can.

The various avatars of Internet Club are (is) the only ones (one) doing anything interesting with "vaporwave" anymore, and it's hardly even vaporwave at this point.

actually this is pretty cool too:

yeah i like that stuff, a little more creativity and imagination at play it doesn't sound like a highly inferior and pisstakey Eccojams attempt (like a great deal of this other stuff does).

as much as i appreciate the 'punk rock' approach to electronic music making, a badly aliased time stretched/pitch shifted loop through low quality digital reverb just never sounds very good regardless of the youthful ethos behind it

First rule of vaporwave. You don't talk about vaporwave.
