I work as a lab technician for a medical school; ultimately my paycheck comes from the state of TX. I just have a 2 yr degree which culminated in a summer internship - I'm still working for the same researcher. I do enjoy the work a lot - a lot of it is grunt work but I do different things every day, so it's not nearly as tedious. Plus it's cool to contribute (in a small way) to scientific knowledge. It's also nice that there are weekly lunch seminars from visiting scientists. My dream job would be to earn most of my money from my origami artwork, but still working in a lab enough to get health insurance :whistling:

Oh and as for me. I'm a first year college student at a community college. I'm planning on transferring to a university after my 4th semester. I don't have a job so in place of that i'm taking a lot of classes and focusing 100% on school. Got straight A's last semester taking a full unit load. If a job opportunity came up, id probably take it because i still have a lot of free time on my hands. My dream job is to work in audio recording in a recording studio and i'll be taking classes in that field.

what are you studying? I'm also thinking about taking classes about the audio and shit but outside the university...

Basically the topic title. What do you do for work? Do you have a job? Are you a student? Did you get a degree for your job? Are you happy with your job? What is your dream job?

Jesus, so many questions. But ultimately... Are you happy with your life?

1. My job title is Chief Manager of Selective waste distribution personnel. I basically manage the selection process quantities within efficient waste distribution networks, management.

2. I used to specialise in armed conflicts predominantly in the 1970's and 80's which was both the happiest and saddest time of my life. If i was ever a student, i was student of pain, male bonding and beating the odds when the chips were down and someone wrote a check that their ass couldnt cash.

3. I am extremely unhappy in my current job. I am completely unable to extract pleasure from managing selection process quantities or find common ground with the selective waste distribution personnel. I want to fight with most of the people i manage within the waste transitory disposal sector. Even those who distribute waste efficiently within the select management networks of which i am Chief manager.

4. Dream job would be karaoke analyst.

Mainly taking general ed at the moment but i think my official major is "Digital Media: Audio." Official major might change to something broad like Music

Full time student(Major Computer Science & Minor in Geology)

One class away from my minor.

Currently jobless but I need to find one. I do work with my Dad on Ships from time to time, but there aren't always ships to repair and school usually interferes. I've worked at two restaurants, Best Buy, an indoor playground and I'm honestly not looking forward to another job that deals with multiple customers in one day. Regardless the sooner I get a Job the sooner I can save up to pay back my loans.

I'm not really sure what I'll do when I graduate but Ideally I'd be programming. Programming is awesome. I should practice more often but I play games instead.

I'm not exactly happy with my current life but at the same time I have no grounds to complain. Just need to get through college so I can start doing my shit.

Currently a final year student studying music production full time and in the process of applying for training as a secondary / college music teacher. Guess I'm enjoying things so far, although I'll be pleased to finish and move away from Southampton and Brighton. Oxford seems to be the place I have my eye on so far, but can't exactly be picky about where I move to next.

I've also been a part time wedding / mobile DJ for coming up 8 years, although with moving away I'll probably end up packing it in this year. Definitely been an interesting job at least.

Student at an "elite liberal arts school" (read prohibitively expensive and sometimes douchey) where I hobnob with the children of famous people like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Because relatively famous musical artists came from our school like MGMT, Das Racist and Dresden Dolls, students here think it's their god-given privilege to put forth a booking policy agenda of lesser known indie bands in hopes to gain "cred" with other students "in the know." I then usually show up to said shows and drunkenly heckle whichever pathetic whiny whitebread hipster quartet my peers have chosen to throw their money and shit-eating adulation at.

When I'm not lamenting how pathetic and insular the music scene is, I study Architecture and German. I received a grant to continue a project that attempts to uncover the particular architectural and urbanistic qualities of post-industry Detroit and post-unification Berlin, and how those similarities gave rise to techno music. This may seem obvious to most of you, but the german studies academic world is still stuck in the 19th century so they'll throw money at anyone who wants to research something "new."

I work at the university's theater, which is a fantastic early work of Kevin Roche. I hang lights and build sets. I get to weld. That's fun. I don't really like the job but I love being in a space designed by a great architect so that makes up for it.

I love going to school. You don't live in the real world and it's great.

I work at a factory.

Sometimes I factorize™, but most of the time I am either helping people solve manufacturing problems or working on software solutions to make things easier.

Jesus, so many questions. But ultimately... Are you happy with your life?

Im sure most of you know this via intuition, but I do a couple of things that all revolve around history.

I teach at a college level...I'd say I am a professor, but certainly not in a tenure-track position or full-time. I work as an adjunct at multiple places within the university system....so in other words, I work more than most full-time people, but for part-time pay.

I have an MA and a BA in somewhat overlapping areas. The pay is rubbish, and next to no benefits on top of that, but I love what I do (best job I've ever had), its hard but rewarding....I'd like to think I've forgone the nice paying job to try and do something helpful, but that naivete is slowly eroding and I'm realizing learning things in humanities-related areas is close to worthless in the modern job market. Though I have had a couple places "headhunt" me so to speak: apparently being my age and a college professor is a good thing? So depending on how this year turns out, I'll soon be heading to greener pastures and a full-time career somewhere in a school system.

I've published a few articles and am working on publishing a book, which hopefully will yield a decent payoff....but working on that combined with teaching is wearing me down.

I wouldn't say Im happy with my life, but that I am accepting of it...building up good work experience, but slaving away for peanuts. Students responding positively is always a huge plus....I found out a lot of my students last semester nominated me for Teacher of the Year, but because I was part-time I wasn't eligible. That really made me feel like I'm doing the right thing.

i would say this to for anyone in uni: the teachers that give a damn are usually working their asses off much, much harder than you think they might.

I'm a new media developer working in the marketing department of a university. It's cushty, basically I imagine what sort of short, informative, video would interest me - then I go out and film it and upload it to YouTube. I did a degree in multimedia and a masters in new media production, which the university paid for and let me do during work hours. I'm also the main photographer which is cool, so far I've met the Dalai Lama, Brian May, Patrick Moore plus loads of other celebs who get honorary fellowships.
