[/seinfeld]Seem's the market has shriveled up and died on account of smart phones and Apple.which is a huge shame, as i don't like mixing my music play back with my phone battery life recently my zune 120 died - so on the search for a new player....any suggestions?would like to have 120 gigs of space, or at least 80. Saying that, Sony are releasing the NWZ-F886 in October, and I'm exceedingly interested in buying it. mcbpete Posted September 27, 2013 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Creative Labs (remember them ?!) do mp3 player that takes MicroSD cards - so I guess you could grab yourself a few 32gb cards to put stuff on - bit of a hassle but is an option. I use my phone now, but still have my 5+ year old Creative Labs Zen Stone in my bag (with all of 2gb storage !) and having tried it a week ago it still works completely fine and has a great battery life. So yeah, they're built quite nicely. Plus you just drag and drop stuff on to it like a USB flash drive without having to install any bullshit. BCM Posted September 27, 2013 Share Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) I just recently invested in a Sony walkman mp3 player (NWZ-E474) as I wasn't happy with the sound from my smartphone (ironically, a Sony Xperia Z with walkman built in, but it was quiet as fuck and a had thin sound). also the whole battery life thing too - the battery on my walkman lasts pretty much the whole week in one charge. soundwave Posted September 28, 2013 Share Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) I've got a 160gb Cowon X7 and although its bulky and the UI is fiddly the sound enhancement features (BBE, parametric EQ ect) work really well at fine tuning headphones and bringing out more detail from lower bitrate mp3's, the battery lasts ages too. iPods don't compare even the 7th gen classic which is as good as it gets from Apple. Although the S4 and HTC One have decentish dacs they still aren't on par with a decent dedicated media player. When I bought my X7 micro SD cards were still quite pricey but if i was to buy another mp3 player it would be the J3 or the new D20 with a stash of 32gb micro SD's. http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/about_us.php tend to have a good selection of current players however the after sales service isn't the best. Except it doesn't have folder-structure and relies only on mp3-taggs, that is pretty lame. It still works fine though. Pro-Tip for buying mp3-players: Shitty, over-priced, custom-format & -software-requiring mp3-players as well as other electronics are indicated by this warning-symbol - I call it "my lil' shopping adviser", it hasn't yet failed me.
