that list is so far from being FACT.

I haven't heard some either, but even looking at some of the artists i do recognise, the tracks are nowhere near their best.

Be interesting to see how laughable their top 50 is.

Yeah that's what they do; #1 on their Aphex top 50 was Analogue Bubblebath lol. I prefer this to a predictable list of tracks we've all heard about to be honest

IS there really anyone reading those magazines anyways all together?

Thing is, I'm happy to see kettel- centercourt. Tadley management is a amazing EP that I believe no a lot of folk has even heard. Go I love kettel!

Where's Olivine & 3/4 Heart?

And Druqks... Bah...

I'd like to download a playlist of all 100 because I haven't heard a lot of these

Youtube links would've been cool even.

They actually updated the article with a YouTube playlist of all 100 FYI

yeah, agreed that these types of lists are always great for listening suggestions. same goes for best-of book lists; no need to be sensitive to the exact order.

For some artists I really like (e.g., global communication & beaumont hannant), I'm happy they chose tracks I never heard of =)

wow I definitely recommend checking out names you've never seen before; I'm going through some of the unknown-to-me things on the list right now and I'm very pleased with what I'm hearing. Note, I'm a sucker for the 1990s electro/idm sound...

me too actually, it's great !

BUT, this top 100 is really a WTF ! only one RDJ track and it's On, not a single Ochre, Edit, Tycho, D'Arcangelo, DMX Crew, The Orb and many more are missing.

some tune that i never heard about are great, but not that mind blowing, some other are questionable

where are Vordhosbn or Alberto Balsalm and for the fun they could have put Windowlicker, if i expected to see an Autechre here it'd have been Second Scepe which is a true masterpiece

top lists are always quite subjective, but it's not really good to make a 100top IDM list that dull, it's a unique chance to let new listeners discover this superb music,

lot of people are certainly trying to bring some pieces together about IDM since Syro is out.

they have just ruined an awesome opportunity to bring the light on so many magical IDM tunes

My biggest gripe is that everything in the list is about 10-20 years old. The newest was from 2004, I think. There's been awesome IDM in the last few years also. They could have at least chosen some later Autechre track than Flutter, ffs.

I feel like the IDMz of the late 90's and early 2000's pretty much disappeared after the halfway mark of the decade. I guess most of them moved on to other type of sounds or grew up to have cushy graphic designer/programming jobs and families and stopped making music. Many of the artists I listened to 10 years or so ago haven't released anything new since. But on the other hand my music taste has changed and diversified over that time too.

Weird list, I disagree with a lot of their picks, not so much the artists featured, but the songs they chose. But at the same time, I'd rather have an obscure list than stuff I already know I like. Not really a list for a beginner but some cool stuff for those already in the know. I never listened to Freescha or Casino Versus Japan at the time because I was a stoner know-it-all college kid going through my "abstract phase" after Confield. So I wasn't listening to anything that wasn't super challenging for a while. However, I had a slow day today and finally listened to an album by each of them and it was a very nice throwback to a very different time in my life. Coinciding with the new Aphex and some of the old stuff from the Japanese bonus track thread, it's been quite the week for an early 2000s IDM revival!
