  1. Never apologize for your taste or feelings, Hugh. You gotta understand that 0pn going in the pond or this one not tickling your fancy are where memes and good threads are born. I miss the days of fighting over records like when Monolith's "Welcome" had 60 pages of debate. We just quietly consoom these days and a spirited take gets met with a lone Farnsworth
  2. Suuure, it was all fun and games with Belinda Carlisle and Bon Jovi--Kirsty Hawkshaw even! Try a little Spice and we suddenly rebuke them? It's a smart move really. The youngsters who were in Lego realm during the Spice Girls fever pitch are prime pillin' age currently. Paul and Phil are rave caretakers.
  3. JBP dropping a gift for the heads via his recent Lex Fridman podcast appearance. Lots of po-tential as he would say. TR-JP01.wav 1920144449_202toMarxland.wav
  4. This is pretty bangin' start to finish. The gospel/rap/R&B/soul injections are bad as hell and it can get really emotive at times. I put the record on and fired up flight simulator to unwind. I happened to be executing a buttery landing when "Stump" came on and there was suddenly a real majesty to the proceedings. Anyway, worth the price of admission. It's probably my favorite thing he's done.
  5. Thought it was gonna stay minimal and bangin like the rest of Luke's EP but he hit the Tangerine Dream button in the second half and it rocks so hard. Lush on a Real Train.
  6. Man I bought this. If I listened to it blind, I'd guess it was a Skee Mask/Synkro collaboration or something. Trudge really knocked it out of the park--FSOL'y cover art and all!
  7. They were my favorite from Detroit Movement. The sound was so clapped out over the weekend but the boys had a really nice balance. Extended footage of dobermans running through fields was very welcomed as well.
  8. There were so many hills that Post-Pills Peterson could have died on and it's a little shocking to me that it was this one. I have a personal taste so I can't be objective but that Yumi Nu is a fookin snack. I know that advertisers and tastemakers are indeed pushing heft out there but I have a hard time slotting her into his "authoritarian tolerance" slant.
  9. This is super surreal because that's my hometown. They're in front of Zayka, which is a hella tasty Indian restaurant and I miss it frequently.
  10. WeMe never does didge vinyl. If you check the page, they direct you back to Dave's Bandcamp for digital. There's no telling when he'll chuck it up there but I heard this one track called "Ballad of Unshipped Cassettes" and it made me not hold my breath for now.
  11. I saw Purple Rain for the first time last night on HBO Max. I was 5 when it came out and I can only remember my parents' strong insistence that I couldn't watch it even though I loved the album when my dad played it. Anyway, the cringe is strong and undeniable but it's charming as well. I can see how it would blow up the musical/cinematic landscape of 1984. Appollonia Kotero had among the best racks I think I've ever seen. My parents were holding out on the goods.
  12. You know, after like 13 years of his bangers, I found myself with blue balls on this record. It's really nice from a John Cage/modern classical perspective but it turns out I really need Freddie Gibbs saying the n word through a 1:0 delay and a footwork-jungle breakbeat to really feel complete. I think he scans the forums so I don't wanna trash him. Posthumous shoutout to Salvatorin for the Machinedrum quote that went something like "Travis is the type to be at an LA industry party and say 'sorry guys, gotta dip' and then read the BOC subforum at home" ??
  13. I had a work pal who retired in 2020. We started having weekly dinners in summer '21 in a surrogate dad-son kind of energy. Last October, it was my turn to drive and I was wearing a homemade Aphex shirt. He asked "what does that symbol mean"? I explained it to him and then Drukqspilled him on the ride home--last 2 minutes of "54 Cymru Beats" obv. He paused for a really long time and then said: "that kind of music can really raise your blood pressure". He had open heart triple bypass surgery 3 weeks later. This is 100% true. I don't think Richard was causative in this case but we'll never be sure.
  14. Lush tracks indeed but just gonna YouTube it I guess. Can't find any files.
  15. Happy for Travis and the teaser tracks are tasty but this Mercury KX label is just the old guard BMG-Universal in disguise. As such, digital vinyls will be a ballache (no Bandcamp/Bleep/Boomkat). I hope to be proven wrong or to at least get an iTunes option. I still never got Clark's recent stuff because those old fart labels like Deutsche Grammaphone only think in CD and vinyl.
  16. Sometimes, the bits just write themselves. I was watching some live stuff at a work computer, which doesn't have adblock. Dig the suggested ad to the right hahaha* *no shade to lgbt frans, actually love Sufjan, bought "Age Of Adz" and "Carrie & Lowell", etc.
  17. ye, "What's next? Sven Vath playing kazoo over 'Sheet One'?" was a solid zing
  18. Crazy how time flies. "Girl/Boy (£18 Snare Rush Mix)" is up to "Girl/Boy (£35.95 Snare Rush Mix)"
  19. looking for "dmstic xprnc" or some permutation to show up in track or album titles soon
  20. Shit sells out in seconds these days. If it's not a festival, you can't get in.
  21. Any Righteous Gemstones here? I know it's lowbrow af at times but I can't resist it. Every episode has something in it that tickles the hell out of me.
