How do you know if a Aphex Vinyl gets valuable?

But you want it to be valuable!

Why?

Without the intention to sell or show off to other people the price is irrelevant imo.

I remember that, but they'd all gone again by the time I read about it on here!

I was so fed up!! ?

It pays to cruise the Aphex store at low heat times, I guess? I just popped on there at random one day and was like… hold up. Had to catch my breath and pinch myself.
I’m very curious if something else has come and gone without any of us noticing.

It certainly does.

And yeah, you never know!

I'd be so happy if they'd do a repress of this!

I don't care about the price of my collection, I'm a collector only for my pleasure and it's my children who will benefit from it when I'm dead! They can make money by reselling the copy of Analogue Bubblebath 5 or the Analord binder. For those who want to sell at the best price, wait for the death of the artist and sell it then, it's the best time to make money.

I see that a Limited Edition Collapse EP I have MINT is worth like $10 crap I just want to throw it away now..
Then you take a look at SYRO Limited Edition Vinyl is worth $2000 minimum and Drukqs is around $500

So how you know what to look for when a new Aphex release gets out?
Will this new EP limited edition get valuable in the future or is it gonna stay $10-30?

Something is only worth what another person is willing to pay for it

I think I've mentioned this before, but in these sorts of discussions I'm always reminded of my dad and his stamp collection. He built a considerable collection his entire life. Only to find out it is all close to worthless nowadays. (he is old now and actively thinking about what should happen with his collection when he's gone...) There used to be a huge stamp collection community creating value, but nowadays that community is practically gone. It has become useless paper. Regardless of limited editions and what not.

Like others mentioned already, the value of items is "made up" by people. And when people don't care - or stop caring - those items become garbage. No matter how special it was originally. This is also why I have a hard time taking collectors seriously, tbh. I mean, why? You can't eat it. Generally speaking, a special/rare album is not as unique as a painting by Van Gogh is, for example. (The item itself doesn't belong in a history book like a painting does, if you know what I mean.)

I paid $2.99 for my 12" of I Farted back around 2014, but it looks like they get $5-$6 now.

What’s the answering machine CD worth? Can’t believe I bought that.
