district 9

very much enojoyed overall but there was alot wrong with it, especially didn't like the main character until he was on the run.

still probably the best science fiction / alien invasion movie for years.

the main problem with ditrict 9 is that i hate the accents. he sounds scottish or brummie when he wears.

capitalism: a love story 7/10

i knew it wasnt going to be a popcorn movie but i didnt really care to see it so i fugured i'd bride myself into going with the promise of popcorn. the popcorn felt inappropriate for most of the movie. i expected more stupid moore antics but it was a very serious sad affair. i even learnt something i didnt know about the dead peasant stuff. partly it makes sense as there is cost involved in training a new recruit but 5million for a manager is alot of training and 81k for a cake decorator is insane.

the scene with the guy reading a letter to his dead wife whilst his kids weep is painful. its a real cheap shot.

is it going to inspire any action by viewers? well did it offer any solutions? any ideas? "go out and do this"? nope nothing. just whinging with an awkward laugh every 10 minutes. socialism. lol ok.

he offered up obama as the saviour but hes unproven as of right now and isn't really heading in any direction which is helpful.

he offered up obama as the saviour

wow that's even disappointing for Michael Moore. I haven't really seen him be loyal to a sitting president before, when CLinton was in office he tore him apart. I shall not be paying any money towards this movie for what you just revealed in your review. Thank you for the warning.

That'd be a good statement, but that's actually doing what Michael Moore wants!

is he encouraging people to bootleg it ?

or a joke on the fact that the movie is anti capitalism

Encouraging. It wouldn't have been a very good joke anyway (not that I'm known for good jokes of course)

that's good of him and all, but i just feel like he's getting really old and maybe even kind of Senile if he'd even insinuate that Obama was in any way a savior.

*stops injecting politics into movie thread*

It's a political movie, go wild!

I need to see it really. He's releasing it for free on some website soon, probably check it out then but I'm in no rush.

What's the verdict on Moore on WATMM then? Because I liked Bowling for Columbine and even Fahrenheit was quite a good documentary. But everyone goes on about his factual innaccuracies and sometimes all out lies - so I don't really know what to think. He's good at provoking a reaction I'd say.

Worth seeing Sicko?

Observe and Report 5/10

Has some funny moments, but what ruined it for me was the completely overbearing use of music. It's like the director has no faith that the audience will understand what mood he/she is portraying so they slather on some music.

hes a great documentary maker. he can bug the shit of me though. he wasn't as annoying as usual in capitalism i didnt think. i was plesantly suprised by it. i recommend it to everyone.

whilst watching it i couldnt help thinking "thats not true". all that fact check shit has mad me not trust him. which is good but doesn' bode well for my enjoyment of his movies.

i think he needs to get more serious. more adam curtis. but i don't think hes smart enough. plasma lol

yeah agreed, this was definitely the worst of the Apatow knockoff trend happening right now. no likable characters, unrealistic plot and very silly anti climactic ending.

Oh hell yeah, Bully is great. I'd rate it about the same. Larry Clark is such a fucking paedo. Trust this.

lol, did he rape you? I can see him as a paedo but seems like he's into teenagers at least, which makes him more of a Polyanski-ist - still illegal, but more understandable. I didn't find the sex scenes with Bijou Phillips and Rachel Miner excessive as I enjoyed seeing them naked too, haha.

i agree about Bijou Phillips and Rachel Miner FOR SURE, but watch Kids, Bully, and then Ken park in a row. Actually don't. Ken Park was rather shit.

Worth seeing Sicko?

Yes, definitely

By the way, for the people who saw his movie on Capitalism, what solution did he propose by the end of his film? He's a great film maker, however we don't hear enough practical solutions to the problems he reports on which is a shame because it's no good filling people with information on problems unless you are going to try and point out a useful, relevant direction to work towards improving things.. especially on an activist level for the sort of films he has been making within the past few years e.g. political corruption, fraud within established systems in society etc..

i hope he makes a Farenhiet 9/11 part 2 like he promised but i think his love for Obama has put the kabash on that idea, plus hed be making a movie that would probably appeal to a lot of Republicans (ie: Obama eroding civil liberties getting us further into imperliast wars) and that would probably digust him at this point

I attempted to watch Akira after not seeing it in 10+ years, but couldn't get through all of it with out fast-forwarding or taking breaks. Everything about this film, except the animation, is so god damn terrible :mu-ziq: 0/10

capitalism - 0/10

holy fucking shit i hate michael moore and his fat turkey gobble chin. when he put police tape around that building and had a cop come and waste time watching his fat embarrassing ass fight the power in the middle of new york city

he's also a terrible documentary filmmaker, totally biased and manipulative. hey i know, let's present these ideas as if the viewer is completely ignorant and wide eyed and then let's get to the bottom of this by acting like a total fucking slug of a human being.

his films might as well be fiction.
