imo syro is richards strongest lp. best from start to finish for this cat.

the lack of schoolboy q itt is disturbing

schoolboy q, logic, krit, Gibbs and rashad are my top 5 for 2014 rap albums

As for syro, I dont know seriously.

I cannot escape the idea that it indeed sounds like aphex paint by number album.

it lacks originality... Half the album is a masterpiece but the other half is close to very average imo.

For me, analord serie is richard best work.

Syro

Aleksi Perälä - Colundi Sequence Level 1/6 / Mental Union 4

CN - Nu

Trackermatte - Planar Mists

Borealis - Kallionyma

The Soundcarriers - Entropicalia

To be released albums that may be stellar if they're on par with their respective teaser tracks :

Objekt - Flatland

Bing & Ruth - Tomorrow was the golden age

Clark - Clark

edit :

Syro

CN - Nu

Aleksi Perälä - Colundi Sequence 7 (my fav of the bunch)

Press Charges - Press Charges

Patronen - Patronen B

The Soundcarriers - Entropicalia

Aleksi Perälä - MU4

TCF - 415C47197F78E811FEEB7862288306EC4137FD4EC3DED8B

Bing & Ruth - Tomorrow was the golden age

Borealis - Kalionyma

Trackermatte - Wasteland Boutique / Planar Mists

Kassem Mosse - Workshop 19

D.K. - Drop

Objekt's Flatland might be the most disappointing release of the year to me. I guess I was expecting 40/50 minutes à la Ganzfeld...

I agree :), I try to invite people to broaden their circles :)

BUT

astral week van morrison is a masterpiece undeniable. the best singer album and touching lyrics I have ever found. I mean, even the band behind van morrison astral week is unusual (they were all reknown jazz men). for me, its one of the best album of all time.

Big krit is the GOAT in terms of rap for me, and I listen to him everyday. he produced, up to cadillactica, every song he ever did. dig him a bit, you will see how intelligent, profound and true this guy is.

as for DMB, I grew up with this band and their 94 to 98 live shows are pretty interesting! but yeah, this is more hard to understand :) and I shall remove it of my list!

Also, if that's an AOTY nomination list, I'd be really curious to see the corresponding "albums-I-listened-to-in-2014" list (not to single you out, others have put forth absurdly long lists as well). From the perspective of someone with barely enough time to listen to the music I already have/like, check out new releases from artists I already know/like, etc., the idea of having 60-something favorite albums from a given year is just baffling.

everybody is different.

no joke I have listen to over 500 albums this year, maybe close to 750-1000.

listening to 3 new album every day gives you 1000 album a year. so maybe Ive listen to even 1500. in 3 month, I have 65gb of new album in mp3.

I dont listen to all the album fully as if after 3 tracks, im bored, I skip.
