their first few releases were pretty good actually, and out hud were good as well. saw them live at glastonbury once as well and they were brilliant, were off their heads on pills, just playing an incredibly psychedelic wall of sound of delayed guitar lines with a steady driving beat the whole time. last couple of albums were poo though.

There's a skate shop in my hometown that's been running for over 20 years. They've massively supported the local skateboarding scene for the past couple of decades throughout its ups and downs. They've always made sure the shelves are stocked with fresh hardware, they've hooked skaters up with sponsorships, they're always putting on free events, hooking regulars up with discounts/freebies etc. But ever since the whole annoying 'scooter' fad has suddenly taken off these past couple of years, half of the shop has been dedicated to scooters. They're stocking some pretty lame brands nowadays. BUT, they haven't forgotten their roots. They still put a decent focus on skateboarding, and they're still generous as fuck. The scooter market essentially enables the skateboard market to continue.

Basically, what I'm trying to get at with this long-winded analogy, is that now and again, Warp will have to sign someone shite in order to stay afloat. Most people love wank music. Warp are probably aware of this, so by bringing popular/mainstream/radio-friendly/current artists onto their roster, it allows them to survive as a label, while still pumping out the good stuff. Not all indie labels can be Hard Stubborn Bastards Records, there has to be some sort of compromise.

I don't even slightly care about Warp as a label, or any labels in general

So please Warp sign these bullshit acts that bring in more money from the crowd potentially it if helps you make money, and let the real artists do what they want with no regard for profit.

Also, they're a bunch of people who like music, maybe you don't like it but who cares.

yep, ultimately the sum of all the arguments is that it doesn't really matter very much, just shifting sands on the sahara for the watmm caravan.

noone'll do it mate, hasn't happened in 16 year on this site, hardly likely to happen with this one. Never had a birthday thread either. heh. I hear that it's good to have some constants in life, constellations to guide you by. Or was that consternations to remind you how little you matter.

love how watmm's idea of the hip new things ruining warp is from the heady days of dance punk in 2003

if hipsters were into hip new things we wouldn't be using it as a go to ad hominem, the term has become so broad at this point (at least for me) to include anybody who is into really shitty things

Guest bitroast

how did the same boring discussion of warp turning into hipster garbage label find its way into a thread about warp records releasing afx rephlex-vibes ep next month ???

grabbed both fenix and neotek off slsk.

vibert soundboard version was better imo.

neotek is what? a rompler drum jam with a lot of eq.where's the bass line?

i see the point of it, it's supposed to be simple tracks for the dancefloor right?

fenix has amazing bass and clap sounds.

not many ppl know about afx in china, would be funny to see chinese ppls reactions

Chinese people just go generally mental over basically everything. I'm got a mate from Beijing and he once posted a picture to Facebook of a yogurt he was eating cos it didn't deflate when he pulled the lid off.
