Wait, what? Did he actually use the term "manifest destiny"? FFS
Hugh Mughnus
Wow lol just wow he should have just thrown the term American space crusades in for good measure, or something equally as loaded Edited February 7, 2020 by Hugh Mughnus

It doesn't stop baffling me how obviously fucked and corrupt the political system in the US is yet there are still people thinking it's the epitome of freedom and democracy. I feel bad for all Americans that they can't enjoy the advantages of the European systems (which of course are fucked the same way but to a lesser extend).

Rubin Farr
Today's batshit developments: Republicans float the idea of an effort to "expunge" Trump's impeachment from history, if they regain the House in 2020 https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-impeachment-expunge-house-republican-win-kevin-mccarthy-nancy-pelosi-a9320291.html Trump claims Pelosi tearing up his speech was "illegal" https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/482016-trump-pelosi-ripping-speech-very-disrespectful-and-very-illegal Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman fired and escorted from White House. ambermonk
Sounds like the GOP are on the path to totalitarianism. But they don't get it. One can't just rewrite history.
Brisbot
I really don't think it was a good idea to impeach Trump without knowing that it would almost certainly pass in the senate. Now his approval numbers are higher than they've ever been, and the narrative surely now is that Trump has been proven innocent in some way, even though though the outcome is solely based on the fact there wasn't enough democrats in order to pass. 6 hours ago, darreichungsform said: Right? Rubin Farr
I wouldn't be surprised to see Romney go independent. Don't Mormons kind of see themselves as independent anyway? His allegiance is obviously to his religion over politics, I respect that even though I'm a non believer.

Yeah there was Evan McMullin, who ran for president in 2016 as an independent. He's a Mormon from Utah and even got 21.5% of the vote in that state.

The same type of people who fall for televangelists and wear these red clown hats with slogans on them. House Dems were in a "damned if we do, damned if we don't" situation with impeachment. If they didn't impeach, then they ran the risk of enabling Trump, effectively granting him completely free reign. thereby appearing totally weak to Democratic voters. But I'm sure that Pelosi and other Dems in the House were keenly aware that an impeachment attempt could get shot down under a Republican senate majority even before they pulled the trigger. They made the decision knowing that the odds were against them, but their primary focus was to uphold the Constitution. Doesn't mean all is lost though. Trump's acquittal was a blatant obstruction of justice, even if his supporters are completely blind to it. If he does indeed get re-elected but Dems hold the House and gain Senate control, then a second round of impeachment is almost guaranteed. A lot can happen in the next nine months though. Rubin Farr
The way they are unapolageticly reveling in their victory, while playing the victims with righteous indignation, I think will rub a lot of the electorate the wrong way. There is a large portion of the electorate who are centrists, independent, or swing voters. Their base will not get them re-elected alone.
