Spotify playlists

Hey guys,

Sorry if there's already a thread for something like this....

Does anyone use Spotify and know of any decent playlists? I'm allowed to listen to music during work for the next month and Spotify seems to be the best for not completely rinsing my battery but I'm restricted to artists popular tracks and playlists without a premium account.

Anything a bit mad really, not necessarily the IDMz but obviously into a lot of similar music as you guys so I thought it'd be a good place to ask.

:]

Pretty sure I'm not answering your question, but I only use Spotify to finally listen to the huge ream of albums I've wanted to listen to since I've been born, that I couldn't afford to buy. And now I have a tool that lets me do that. Anyone who thinks such a thing is garbage (Owl of Minerva is jesting?) is just spouting garbage. Drag the philistines to the market square and lop off their skulls!

Have no interest in other peoples playlists tbh, I got my own thang going on.

Buy a premium pass, and spotify will give you "discover weekly" "your daily mix" and "release radar" based on the music you play. Great stuff.

you don't need a premium account for that

I like that Spotify will replace the music in video games on my PS4.  Never tried premium, I don't mind a 30 second commercial every half hour for the wealth of old music I never or no longer own.  I have playlists for work, nostalgic playlists from my youth, and some classic electronic playlists.

Thanks guys, so I'm guessing I am to seek out this daily mix thing?

Sometimes it seems to play me tracks it thinks I will like and it seems to be quite good at it!

Yeah, I like Spotify...better than other streamers I think.

The CPU usage compared to others is very welcome too!

And if I like something a lot, chances are I will buy it :]

Pretty cool to make playlists of great bands who make very patchy albums. Deerhunter and New Order spring to mind. Plus I have one for all the Radiohead bit's and pieces that aren't on albums. Also I have a bbc 6 playlist, any track (unless its a white label or summat rare) that comes on that I like I just send straight to that playlist, then every few weeks I run through it, sifting the gold from the murk. Got some champion tunes in there.

If you dig around you can find a lot of non-Spotify curated playlists. Some of the best I've come across often are just via friends. online acquaintances, etc. like this one. I've been using it for years no so my "release radar" and "discovery" playlists are fine-tuned to what I listen to. I've made some playlists myself if you want to check them out - here's a bigass one for 2017 I've made.

Warp Records, Ninja Tune, and R&S put out playlists of stuff in their office rotations.

I mentioned this above but my best luck has been via the discovery playlist and release radar. You will always get a couple spammy bullshit artists Spotify is pushing but for the most part it's really helpful and effective. Otherwise I literally just browse artists suggested as "similar" from artists I listen to often. Besides word of mouth IRL and watmm I find most new music from Spotify. It can hone in on your taste pretty quickly. Really replaced lastfm for me in that regard.

Aw! Thanks

I wanted to add that I created my thumbnail on company time at my old full-time job. I'm pretty proud of that, as well!
