opening an IDM bar/lounge 1 2 3 4
by Guest chax- 96 replies

I just had the greatest idea ever, how cool would this be: opening a bar/lounge that *only* plays IDM/alternative electronic music. I know there is a big electro scene in Toronto, so I'm sure there would be enough of an audience to make this work. To just have a venue to go chill and listen to some IDM...maybe make it a combination internet cafe with computers everywhere, and free wifi with your laptop. Have live only IDM DJs, maybe get some streaming DJs over the internet to play music with a sweet soundsystem. Get a nice location on Queen street or something. This would be some fucking awesome shit. I was reading this: http://www.clubplanet.ca/Articles/2007/How-To-Open-…

how ocd are you about your music collection? 1 2
by Guest zaphod- 31 replies

if you own physical music, do you have a specific way of keeping it arranged? do you have a system? if you have mp3s, do you have to have all of the tags and album art perfect before you can do anything? do you rate every song? is there a special system in place that is specific to you? do you make playlists? me, i'm not very neat about this stuff but i'm trying to devise a system for my digital music collection because it's gotten out of hand after years of neglect. i don't have much vinyl and sold all my cds so that pretty much arranges itself.

No, I have actually met Freeform's lady friend even though that was in 2003... sinfully, Akkad The Orphic priest

Hay-fever
by Guest Gary C- 6 replies

I'm annoyed today. I've had a sore throat for a couple of days, but yesterday it turned into a blocked nose. I realise today that it's probably hay-fever. It feels too early to have hay-fever. I don't want to spend a fortune on tablets this year, so I'm considering getting an inoculation. Has anyone had something similar? Or have any good herbal remedies? Fuck hay-fever! The most unfunny joke.

alright friends foes and anonymous people alike, here i am in the cradle of civilization, the skokie public library and as i'm doing odd internet things i feel a very familiar rumbling in my midsection all the way down to my arse... i've got a pretty serious shit coming, seeing as this is yesterday's shit that didnt quite feel ready to join us on this plane of existence this morning when i wake up (as i get in better and better shape, i often have to take 2-3 shits within an hour or two of waking up so my body is empty for the physically challenging days i've laid out for myself here. it helps when you wake up at 6am and run 3-5 miles etc etc) so anyways this one wa…

After a couple of months, I have come to the following conclusions: I like Rambo's style. I like that mrcopyandpaste and I share a love of swans and Sean Bean in a turtleneck. I like abusivegeorge for being a nice person, and the good times in the pub roleplay thread. I like Fred McGriff's dedication to finding the most IDM things in the world. I like gaarg's pornographic ms paint pics. I like lullezucht's ability to turn almost anything into an amazing GIF. I like the fact you can tell when it's an ET thread just by reading the title. I like Kaen's black and white topless photos (and our shared love of classic Metalheadz). I like Lol Alzado's endless…

I'd just like to briefly post something that has been at the back of my mind. We all know the internet and computers are changing our social behaviour, habits, social interaction and just generally how people live their lives. We also know that this particular technology has negatives and positives. For an example, a positive point being that you can wikipedia pretty much anything and you can get the info you want, negative that real social interaction are less occurant, thus lesser skill. Personally, I hope that because of the internet - it will: - Help people realise that most people are generally good & that we should learn to get along (people…

Like many things in life, the whirrs and noises of old computers that were formerly annoying now inspire a nostalgic sense of retro glee -- the bleating of a fax modem, the blatting of a large-format dot-matrix printer. I t's this sort of nostalgia that inspires some users to make them sing, like a YouTuber going by the handle of bd594 who orchestrated a collection of outdated gear to emit the soulful strings of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. It starts with an HP ScanJet 3C playing the part of Freddie Mercury, then an Atari 800XL makes the organ sounds, TI-99/4a handles guitar duties, and a selection of other archaic goodies make visual and aural appearances. …
