Anyone got one? Waste of money? I love the idea of the vocoder shizzle. Could I get this feature somewhere cheaper though, perhaps?

Alesis ION

So I'm ready to make the leap from software to hardware and of the research I've done the ION seems like a great choice, I love the analog nature of it, the physical knobs, the hands-onness of it all, so my question to you informed experts is: is 350 worth it for this keyboard?

Kind of a complex question. First off, I was wondering if there are any plugins that are just like a triton, or motif. Basically a rompler plugin that covers all the basics. I havent heard of one... sure there are samplers, but then you have to buy different libraries, and they are usually specific instruments. I was thinking, when doing commercial gigs, things like tritons and motifs are great because they have very useable sounds that you can just lay down. no tweaking, or sifting through various plugin synths or samplers. All there, ready to bang out something for a commercial for example. however, they cost alot, and have to be recorded eventually, to do eff…

i do, and it's annoying. right now i've kind of "burned out" with music and music making, everything feels so boring. futuremusic once had a good issue on how important it is to rest your ears, and i think i'm gonna do that now. the times i've had the most fun, and more importantly, made the coolest and most original music, has been when i hadnt been listening to much music at all for days. maybe a week off would be healthy? do you feel the same occasionally? or am i just not electronic music enough?

http://forpost-language.nm.ru/beeper.zip I saw this on KVR today. It outputs through your internal piezoelectric speaker instead of the host. try playing a whole bunch of notes really quickly!! http://www.wizardmaster.com/bludgeonsoft/0303/index.html ^^^^^this is similar but older, probably mentioned before^^^^^

Smartmedia drives
by Guest LJG- 0 replies

Hello all. I don't know much about smartmedia or smartmedia drives, but it seems pretty standard with Korg stuff. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations as far as a smartmedia reader/writer that could be connected to a PC for use with data transfer for Korg products. Google searches have yielded confusing results- I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at- or if smartmedia and flash memory are at all interchangeable. Thanks!

If anyone wants to remix me, let me know which track you have in mind, and I'll put a remix pack up, it can be any track at all by me. I'll also supply Buzz files if you're that way inclined. Also, I had an idea, if anyone's interested: I have a lot of nice little loops made in Buzz that I can't do anything with at all, soon I will obtain hosting so I can upload these little Buzz files for people randomly, to remix or complete.

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on a composition for string orchestra, piano celesta and synthesizer, I'm working with a roland jx-305 because it's the only hardware synth i have access to and it sounds ok but i've basically just been manipulating onboard patches and making them sound the way i want them but i think that for future compositions i'd like to have total control over the sounds i'm using...which is why i'm asking this. I've heard all about how difficult it is to program etc. (incidentally reaktor is not a desireable substitute) and i'm not in any way au fait with electronic music production anyway, but basically all i would want to be doing is cre…

i just found all of my old music from way back when i used to post tracks in ekt on the first watmm (as carbon14)... must be about 3 or 4 years ago now. nobody told me they were such shit... hahaha ah man these are awful. even though half the people who heard them are gone, i'm kind of embarrassed. it does make me wonder though... would i have stopped making music if everyone just told me the truth? would i have just gotten better any faster?

anyone here ownes the boss sx-700 multi-effect? i'm trying to control it using midi, but fail to find out which controller number corresponds to which effects parameter. there's just too many parameters to find it out by simply switching through. can anyone provide me with some sort of a list or tell me where i could find such a list, there's nothing like this in the manual. thanks in advance

Ok.. so I'm looking at perhaps getting some of these... I want something that has more character... I know you can never fully capture analoge with digital, but I've accepted that, and I want an emulation. So that said... how are these? I know the moog modular is a cpu hoog, and I assume the others are too... but does anyone have any experience, and can tell me how much cpu each one uses, roughly? and how good, and etc.. and basically, if you reccomend any. the ones im interested in, in order of wanting the most, to least: Prophet V CS-80 V Minimoog Arp 2600 V Moog Modular V thanks!
