The 'fact' that they were an undiscovered civilisation or whatever turned out to be a hoax. It was some kind of publicity stunt aimed to raise awareness of logging or some shit.

so far i would say ferromagnetic fluids, but they're not that new....

space stations perhaps, they're very very idm, and the fact that they're endangered by space debris more and more makes them more edgy.

 

well-worn headphones are idm for sure tho
