heavy on atmosphere and light on kick drums

I am sooo happy to read this. His last album was a mess and its very very awesome to have hopes up for some kind of New World Observer 2.0 :emotawesomepm9:

I like Roots and Wire a lot, particularly:

(Radio Rothko version)

Sounds like this might be a nice mix of the newer dub techno and more mellow stuff though- perfect summer listening...

It gets more and more into deepchordish styles. Its ok but he can do so much more than that

Rumpistol developed much better IMHO

LEAKED

Please, stop posting this every single time an album gets leaked. It's pretty much a middle finger to the artist saying 'don't bother paying for it, it's now free to download'.

Well hypothetically you could just download it and not brag about how cool that you are because you did so. Then, if you really listen to it more than once and truly like it, you could save up your money and perhaps purchase a copy to support the artist attempting to make a living by releasing it (and starting a new label to do so).

Sorry for the snarkiness, but I really agree with Mr. Pittance on this lame trend...

I really like to know when something is leaked even more if its in advance so I can make a better decision if its worth buying. look at my last.fm top ten. I own all of these releases by downloading mp3s first and then buying them if they are still in rotation for more than 2 month.

b: just continue downloading for free :whistling:

well put mr green kingdom, it's the weird braggart mentality that seems to be pervasive among those who hold bootlegging everything they consume as a badge of honor. I know many people who just have spindles and spindles of DVD rips and they never watch shit, they just hoard it /collect it and then brag to their friends about how they never buy DVDs. Good fucking for you

edit: specific example, i have a casual gamer friend who wanted to 'one up' all his other gamer friends by getting his Xbox360, and Ps3 modded, he downloaded assloads of games, burned them and guess what? He never played a single fucking one, the adrenaline rush/pleasure injected into his brain was gained entirely from feeling superior to others who actually paid money for the stuff. I guess whatever you need to do to get your kicks. And i'm not accusing even 'enter a new display name' of doing this, i just find that it's a pretty common angsty youth thing to be proud of.

Doing it because you can't afford it and then not bragging about it on a public forum is an entirely different story. I remember being a little shocked when watmm member Tidbit actually thought it was funny to tell me he liked a release on my label, stole it and never planned on paying my label a dime for it. He may have just been fucking with me, but if he was trying to portray himself as a giant dick he did a great job

How is your constantly negative opinion on new music more insightful than my posts? :duckhunt:

don't mean to interrupt, but 'third quarter' has me all warm and fuzzy. this is an amazing release and makes me quite curious what other brilliant musics will be released through the BLKRTZ

to gain and sustain such high levels of musical knowledge/culture i must constantly download/listen/assimilate/sort kilotons of music every single day. if i would have paid for all the artists i have in my computer, now i should be typing from bangkok with two 18yo mignon twins blowing me while trying to roll a fat pure white rhino ganja joint, listening to Hecq

but i'm not, but i have MY MUSIC, and it's all that matters

Just because I don't jump into the arms of anything dub techno/basic channel related doesn't mean I'm negative - I'm just critical.

I am still kind of in between chairs. Its really nice and I like it better than his last release but I am a bit disappointed in the looping nature of the arrangement. He would be capable of so much more.

I thought I was the only one who preferred New World Observer. I only discovered Deadbeat through hype around Roots & Wires which I didn't really get into. Where is this guy from, is he Canadian? I have listened through this new record and it’s cool but a little too straight dub for my taste, I would prefer a bit more of the melancholy techy atmospheres.

As for the piracy debate… I don’t support it and you should pay for stuff if you possibly can etc. I don’t think it’s reasonable to prevent people from mentioning when albums leak though. It would be ridiculous on a music discussion forum for us to listen to leaked promos and then not say anything, not discuss the album until the official release date. You may say it looks like gloating at being a thief to post ‘LEAKED’, but to comment on a track before it’s released is basically saying the exact same thing except it generates confusion over whether it’s out or not, or if tracks are being played on radio or something. If you don’t want to listen to leaks that’s cool but you can’t pretend it’s not going on. To be fair as well, I haven’t seen anyone do anything I would call bragging in this thread anyway.

I kinda felt the same way after listening to it on speakers first. After I listened to it on headphones more details emerged and the looping arrangement didn't stand up that much. It's like a mix of his early stuff with the latter clubby stuff. Still a nice album.
