I cannae bellieve I only just got round to checking out Tango 'n Vectiff. Blows me away. Especially when compared to other releases from the same year, including the Aphex. So yes, it's my favourite album of the last 5 years, even though it came out nearly 20 years ago(!)

Pretty much the whole album is gold, but these are my favourite tracks.

For albums released strictly within the last five years I would probably say Oversteps.

xiu xiu - women as lovers

mount eerie - wind's poem

mount eerie with julie doiron and fred squire - lost wisdom

actually fuck it, literally everything mount eerie has released in the last 5 years. clear moon, black wooden, black wooden ceiling opening, pt. 6&7. dawn, i guess i can leave out white stag since it's kind of boring and repetetive, but the rest is solid 8.5/10 and up.

fever ray - fever ray

john maus - love is real

vhs head - trademark ribbons of gold

max tundra - parallax error beheads you

clark - turning dragon

andrew jackson jihad - people who can eat people are the luckiest people in the world

shed - the traveller

john roberts - glass eights

top ten+ right there, no particular order

lots of OPN love, have to get on that

Although Replica is his latest long player, Rifts is your best starting point for sure. It's a good time for discovering OPN, a lot of his older stuff is available to buy digitally; Boomkat have a good selection, see also KGB Man (pseudonym) which they have as well. I keep meaning to collate a bunch of his various web-only oddities from over the years into an easy grab pack for folks. One downside to all the recent megaupload/filesonic takedown business was a lot of rare and peculiar music was lost to the ether...

I'd have to say either OPN - Returnal, or (in the less electronic department) The National - High Violet. That latter album had a huge impact on me, probably one of the best "rock" records I know. Up there with the earliest R.E.M.-stuff :-)

Oh, and my first post, by the way :-) Hi there.

Edit: DAMN... actually a little over 5 years old, but I'm sticking with it as it's what immediately popped into my head :(
