This looks cool. It's uploaded by his music label account, so it's most likely to be another music project. Though recently he said something is in process regarding film, too.

can someone paste the text from that link? factmag doesn't seem to like to load for me.

It wasn’t long ago that cult film director David Lynch birthed his bizarre electronic album Crazy Clown Time, and it seems he’s been busy in the down time as its follow-up The Big Dream is now set for release on July 16.

Billed as a collection of “modern blues” the record features eleven original songs and a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘The Ballad of Hollis Brown’ and it will emerge on the Sacred Bones label in the US (who released last year’s Eraserhead re-issue) and Sunday Best in the UK.

The first taster of the album is ‘I’m Waiting Here’, a bonus cut from the album which features Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li on vocals. A lilting, 50s-inspired number this harks back instantly to Lynch’s pioneering work with Julee Cruise back in the late 80s, and is a return to a smoky sound many fans thought was missing on his last record. Lynch commented on the singer, noting “She brought her own style to this song, which has a doo-wop sort of thing going on, but in a way it’s far-removed from the 50s.”

‘I’m Waiting Here’ will be included on a 7″ single which will be packaged with the vinyl version of the album, and will also appear as a bonus track on the digital version. You can stream the track (if you have Spotify) below. [via Pitchfork]

Update: You can now stream 90-second clips of the whole album over at iTunes.

Tracklist:

01 The Big Dream

02 Star Dream Girl

03 Last Call

04 Cold Wind Blowin

05 The Ballad of Hollis Brown (Bob Dylan cover)

06 Wishin’ Well

07 Say It

08 We Rolled Together

09 Sun Can’t Be Seen No More

10 I Want You

11 The Line It Curves

12 Are You Sure

13 I’m Waiting Here [ft. Lykke Li] (bonus track)

reminds me of 'just you' that donna and james sing in twin peaks

Oh god, my brain had scrubbed that from memory - It's all come horribly crashing back.

That part was sort of cringe-worthy, I thought. James generally is. The new song is kinda cool though.

Ahgawd! That scene...

Anyway, this is so much fucking better than Just You. This is actually pretty cool. It has some very cheesy moments, but the very Lynchian sound makes up for it.

I like the bass.

EDIT: Okay, the ending needs to go away...

Not sure about the song. Although from what I'm reading, the album will take the direction I was expecting for the first album.

A little interview about the album:

He's currently focusing on his paintings and drawings, with an exhibition coming up during November at the Kayne Griffin Corcoran gallery in Los Angeles. Lynch isn't working on any film projects at the moment, and he has no plans to take his music out on the road.

oh wow, maybe it's just me, but this doesn't sound good. and i'm one of those people that really enjoyed crazy clown time, but this i'm not excited about. i really miss the stuff he did with john neff like blue bob.

oh, and the movie he's working on is a documentary about the maharishi mahesh yogi. he's been at it for some time too but he said he's taking his time because it's a personal and very important project for him.

A few months later, I reached Lynch by phone at his hotel room in Paris. Bob Roth had told me that Lynch said he was working on a new script and that it was typically dark. When I asked Lynch about this, he paused, annoyed. “Bobby’s got a big mouth,” he said. I asked him if the script was influenced by his work with T.M., and he said no, absolutely not. This will be a David Lynch picture, he said, adding, “I think people would probably recognize it.”

I want to see him do more stuff like the Jitterbug opening to Mulholland Drive. He should have done a 5-10 minute short with that kinda thing.
