Much has been specualted about w/r/t the “not new music” clue, perhaps simply because we are hoping that it could be new (to us) music anyway. Not sure what to make of “funny you mention gear”… And also interesting is the fact that Richard, Joyrex, and Warp are somehow each involved at least a little bit in new shit. No lushness that I would expect from aphex or squarepusher (even in his somewhat throwaway DSP wank tracks). yes you are No he's not. The stuff on the release whilst technical, to me the lacked the cohesive, intuitive direction you would expect, or just that hook based joy warm joy. Still though it has been years and I skimmed em hah. And for the record I thought split release too between those two as well, this is what everyone thought omg what's going on watmm, we have new aphex and more on the way/!!!! I've been throwing it on a lot lately, though, mostly as an alternative to caning drukqs or go plastic for the millionth time as background music. Still get the sense it's more of an open collaboration than anything, like a rephlexian gescom. With Tom on bass, or samples thereof, on backyard, probably.
