IDM as an abbreviation is pretty cool, but Intelligent Dance Music is gay. What do you guys usually say when people ask what you listen to? I usually just say experimental electronic. This genre is desperately in need of a new label though, as its kind of growing and most people (correctly) think its a lame term.

ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council)
by Guest Wall Bird- 7 replies

Today's episode of Democracy Now had an interesting story about ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), an organization that facilitates collaboration between major corporations and state legislators and in which these corporate lobbyists are presenting legislation they have crafted in order for the state legislators to introduce to the house as their own creations. Today's headline on Democracy Now consists of part of a small documentary by journalist Bill Moyers on ALEC. [youtubehd]Ul4TZtRv5bE[/youtubehd] Part 2 of the video: Here's a link to the transcript, if the video moves too slowly for you. Has anyone heard of ALEC before? Apparen…

have you set a world record? do you know someone who has set a world record? have you read or heard about an interesting world record? would you like to try to find and interesting world record to share with the watmm? you can also make one up if you want, although, if you are questioned regarding its authenticity, you will need to provide evidence or explain the circumstances in detail or just convince us with a really good lie

WATMMers, I am currently partaking in the "World Cerebral Palsy Challenge". It is a fundraiser designed to raise money for those individuals affected by cerebral palsy, and their families or caregivers. I am taking steps in place of those that can't walk on their own because they are physically challenged by cerebral palsy. I have already walked 114033 steps, or approximately 56km, over the last 8 days, and I commit to walking and running another 200km over the next 3 weeks. Please support me as I continue in this endeavour, and donate if you can. $1, $5, or $100 can go towards making life easier for those with cerebral palsy. Funds donated go directly to the …

Federer as Religious Experience By DAVID FOSTER WALLACE Published: August 20, 2006 Almost anyone who loves tennis and follows the men’s tour on television has, over the last few years, had what might be termed Federer Moments. These are times, as you watch the young Swiss play, when the jaw drops and eyes protrude and sounds are made that bring spouses in from other rooms to see if you’re O.K. The Moments are more intense if you’ve played enough tennis to understand the impossibility of what you just saw him do. We’ve all got our examples. Here is one. It’s the finals of the 2005 U.S. Open, Federer serving to Andre Agassi early in the fourth set. There’s a me…

Had a mooch out to Cambridge yesterday to visit the IWM at Duuxford, I have been meaning to go for sometime so yesterday I finally made it. Just thought I'd recommend it to you at WATMM HQ, if you are thinking of going be sure to. Have to say the icing on the cake was the American hanger, after seeing English Electrics, Concorde, Sea Kings, DoodleBugs, Tonadoes, Marine Spitfires etc etc and then walking into a room (which in itself was pretty awesome) And walking in head on to a B52 Stratofortress was awe inspiring, plus the mindblowing Blackbird and A-10, and U2, F-111, and Tomahawks heheh etc etc.. Wow what a cool place. Finished up in Cambridge supping fine ale…

"If you like the idea of cruising on a ship in laid-back luxury, but prefer the speed and convenience of air travel, there may soon be a solution. Drawing their inspiration from the airships of yesteryear, a new generation of airship-like vehicles could soon be making their way across our skies." "In a hangar outside Tustin in California, engineers are preparing one of the most radical designs for testing. The Aeroscraft, as it is known, is the brainchild of Igor Pasternak and has been made possible by advances in materials and computer control systems." "We are resurrecting [the airship] with new composite fabric structures, that are stronger, lighter, more vers…

This code *2767*3855# can be used to trigger the reset for a Galaxy SIII, according to Twitter user @pof. Embedding it in a simple frame (such as ) will automatically trigger a non-user initiated factory reset of the device, he added. Thankfully, simply browsing a website with the code embedded will not trigger the reset, but opening a message via QR, NFC or WAP Push SMS will. When the website link opens, it starts the wipe. (full story here - http://www.zdnet.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-vulnerable-to-remote-malicious-reset-7000004771/ ) Here's the simple fix http://forum.dailymobile.net/index.php?topic=77973.msg984076#msg984076
