I'm still here (just about) and cracked open a Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, an excellent Scottish stout.

 

Had a few St Bernadus, and a few Triple Karmeliet and two bottles of Weihenstephaner Heffe Weisbier (and two bottles of Black Fox cider...)

 

Sound like some proper posh cunt in his manor house quaffing fine ale while peasant's toil the far distant fields of my estate. I just love my ale mate, and in this day and age I don't have to put up with your fucking inbev/millersab/heinekinschmeinekin nonsense

had a Rochefort 10 yesterday to celebrate the arrival of sub-freezing temperatures.

 

 

i've had this in my basement for a good six months, just waiting for the holiday season to enjoy.  never tried this one before, really looking forward to it:

Definitely not a warm weather beer, which is why it's been sitting in my basement for six months. I always give it a longing glance when I am down there. Will report back after I've enjoyed it.

I admire people who can have world-class beers sat around doing nothing for six months. Six hours would be pushing it with me ; )

 

Maybe if your American and you have to get certain beers exported from over the pond, I guess you would have a different perspective and keep them for special occasions.

Home and Bargains often have one off beers for 99p or less. Bought a fair few of these recently in Shrewsbury..

 

Oakham beers buy on sight. The other one is a collaboration between Brewdog and Yeastie Boys (Beer makers love a pun) - really hoppy black porter with a head that would make Divine Brown proud.

Beer based stews n sauces are delicious when cooked out properly, slow cooker is gonna get a workout in the cold of January so you get the full range of flavour profiles without the actual booze hits. Works with all cuts of beef, lamb & acres of veg, chin-chin

I ordered a mixed case of The Wild Beer Co, who's beer I'm becoming fascinated with. Had the Tepache https://wildbeer.myshopify.com/collections/limited-editions/products/tepache who's description I wasn't so sure on, but wow what an absolute stunning beer! Then had Rooting Around Autumn https://wildbeer.myshopify.com/products/rooting-around-autumn which was absolutely awful, which is part of the fun I guess (lucky the Tepache was 660ml and Rooting was 330ml ; ) ​

some friends of ours got us a cookbook dedicated to cooking with Belgian beer.  over 100 recipes from appetizers to dessert, even one using Westvleteren 12 (who would ever cook with this instead of drinking it?!).

 

we had them over and tried out two dishes from the cookbook, a pork with Westmalle dubbel, and pears with Kriek.  loved it.

Nogne - Imperial Stout - 9%

 

Christ this is truly an intense savage wonderful beer. I bought this from The Grumpy Goat shop in Reading on a whim (I recognised the Nogne ​O ​symbol as beer worth checking out). I couldn't drink more than one though, not because of the strength but because the flavour is so very rich. Actually on second thoughts you could twist my arm and I'd have another one...
