my flatmate used my laptop for a day, and now ive got that spyware where random words online come up as links, and i get random blanked popups because adblock blocks the ads but they still appear. ive tried a few free virus removals but nothing is getting rid f it.

also how the poo do i change my avatar, ive looked all through the menus, the option just seems to have disappeared.

also, inexplicably, the option to change avatars is now called "change photo." it's the first option when you click "my settings." makes no sense.

what everyone said here, malwarebytes, adaware, spybot, the full shebang.

Oddly enough Google.com has been freezing my computer up everytime it returns search results and Ive been going insane trying to figure out the problem. I could swear theres a virus in here somewhere...

Tell your roommate they are a cunt and shouldn't have looked @ porn on your laptop.

I used to run a little business in high school where I'd fix peoples fucked up computers. 98% of the viruses/trojans/malware/spyware/dreaded virtumonde I saw on their computers came from porn and downloading said porn. The other 2% of the baddies were from faulty torrents and e-mails.

I used to have fun re-naming random porn I found on hard drives to 'shame' and 'grandpa's birthday video'. Fucked up, innit?

Malwarebytes tends to beat trojan's asses with a baseball bat. I had some real trouble getting rid of all the adware shit from that ghastly browser crippling iLivid trojan about 2 months ago. Eventually realised i had to go into Chrome settings disable it.

If the OP is having issues setting an avatar on here, the thought of using Autoruns and HJT to modify registry entries manually is probably more dangerous than the malware itself
