How does the World view America these days?

^^ hrm... do you think the cops knew he had swallowed the meth?

I watched the video and the guy was sweating so ridiculously much, shirt was soaked, guy was rambling nonsense, laying on his back near unresponsive.

The cops in the video say he's sweating because he's nervous, but his shirt is drenched! Any reasonable person would know the guy was in medical distress.

Kanye West said "taking the piss out of me",recently.. has that shiz crept in to USA vernacular?

I use other country's vernacular because I spent time on the internet with people from every country. He spends a lot of time in fashion so he probably gets exposed to brits a lot especially in London.

Found this interesting article by AP about why research on gun violence is seriously underfunded

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/basic-gun-violence-research-is-seriously-underfunded_561aa218e4b0dbb8000ef5f0

In short: apparently the voices against doing research on gun violence are way louder than those in favor. And without proper research, there can't be any real efforts on making new policies to prevent gun violence.

CDC-funded research — some of it published in the nation's most prestigious medical journals — implicitly questioned the wisdom of having a gun. Studies found that having a gun in the home tripled the risk that someone there would be murdered, and dramatically increased the chance of a suicide occurring as well.

Beginning in the 1980s, the National Rifle Association tried to discredit such studies, accusing the CDC and the researchers the agency funded of incompetence and falsifying data.

In 1995, the NRA and sympathetic lawmakers pushed for the elimination of the CDC injury center, claiming it had embarked on a political agenda against gun ownership. That bid failed. But the next year, Congress took the $2.6 million CDC had budgeted for firearm injury research and earmarked it for traumatic brain injury. Congressional Republicans also included language directing that no CDC injury research funding could go to research that might be used, in whole or in part, to advocate or promote gun control.

Exactly what that language meant wasn't clear. But CDC officials, aware of how vulnerable their injury research center was becoming, ultimately adopted a conservative interpretation. "They fired a big shot across our bow" that was seen as saying "any hint that you are crossing the line we will take as an invitation to come and take away the rest of your funding," Rosenberg recalled.

NRA officials in Washington did not respond to repeated AP requests for comment for this story.

psychologically, gun love originates in fear obviously, specifically as it relates to historical group tensions. think: native americans, mexicans, and both pre and post-slavery blacks, and how the whites must have feared them. sure maybe the dudes writing the constitution thought militias might dissuade people with fascist aspirations, but that ship sailed before world war 1.

so the two arguments in the pro-gun camp are this:

1. we like guns. we like them a lot

2. the united states government and those seeking to misuse it fear our guns (garbage argument so pitiful its honestly sad and concerning)

how many more mass shootings and massacres we will have to go through as people go back and forth with their ridiculous debates before something is done, i can't say. 50 years? thats probably about 50 senseless mass shootings. plus theres the daily tallies coming out of inner cities or whatever you call them.

yes states should control things and not defer to the fed on everything. however, people can cross state lines with guns. so, it doesnt really matter if one state actually has responsible gun laws if an adjacent state lets you grab one for 200 bucks with no requirement. but what does reason matter? guns make millions of people feel good and we may just have to wait until millions feel fear and/or disgust about guns, so much fear and disgust that it counterbalances the warmth derived from guns by those who enjoy great security, confidence, and recreational pleasure thanks to guns in all their elaborate forms and with all their cool accessories and with the most expedient, convenient, and unlimited availability.

In the end, the power is in the people themselves. If people would stop buying guns altogether, the pro-gun lobby wouldn't have as nearly as big funding as they currently have. And the road would be free to have some tighter regulation.

So, if you want to live in a safer world, stop buying guns!

in texas, state law allows students to carry weapons on campus but not dildos

The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms, however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. You would receive a citation for taking a DILDO to class before you would get in trouble for taking a gun to class. Heaven forbid the penis.

You're carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I'm carrying a HUGE DILDO.

Why are so many stupid Americans committing crimes, and then immediately posting it on Facebook? Drive around shitfaced drunk and post it online, point a gun at your girlfriend, post it online and then murder her, shoot someone outside a nightclub to death and then post it online. It's fucking embarrassing. SNL was right, guns are a disease in America.

Somehow reminds me of Col. Kurtz's quote in Apocalypse Now! immediately before his assassination, about how young airmen are trained to bomb villages but aren't allowed write the word "fuck" on their aircraft.
