Not liking the amount of death threats etc by anti-brexit people. Calling names like "Boris Saville" for example.

Boris got fucked over by his party too, the real game of thrones :/

This is the only death threat related to the referendum that I've read about:

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jul/04/david-lammy-receives-death-threat-after-eu-referendum-result

Of course there's the standard stream of death threats from momentum-retards to labour MPs as well...

I can't see the exit not going ahead, it just won't be have as much noticeable affect as was reported before and after the vote. I don't think cutting ties in regards to trading will benefit anybody.

I reckon Boris the bullet dodger has pulled out to let someone else deal with the transition. I've heard from somebody who used to work with him that, although he is very charismatic, actual work would be passed on to others to do for him. That was a few years ago but I don't think he's changed. He'll lie low for a while and pop up up come next election.

Theresa May bites the heads off small babies so I'm hoping she gets nowhere.

I don't understand why people think leaving the EU will put us in a negative economic situation.

Facts:

- The EU/US deal is going sour and might not happen at all depending who the next President is - because the EU are demanding too much (as usual)

- We are 350m/whateverM a day better off to start with.

- India, China, and Russia all want to deal with us directly.

- Farmers in the UK who sell a product no one wants to buy at a price too high for market value and instead rely on government subsidies might be forced to use their considerable land to produce something people do want. Like solar power.

- We can actually govern our own country and make our own decisions.

- We could, if we wanted to, start manufacturing in the UK again because there is no EU telling us that it is too pollutive.

All I am seeing from leavers is bleating about the poor farmers (and they aren't even farmers themselves) and how the UK is going to go bankrupt even though every shred of factual evidence argues otherwise. When you get into a heated debate with these clowns they quickly move on to calling you a cunt, telling you how they hope you die from Cancer, and sometimes...death threats.

Yep! It is WAY too early to panic or try and predict what is going to happen, all the propaganda from both sides of the argument is pure conjecture at this time. It will be quite a while before economics re-balance, and the fraction of the population who votes (DO IT!) will probably have a decent say in how negotiations evolve... Keep calm, queue up, and Brexit in an orderly fashion.

I'm fairly sceptical, I suppose it really depends how flexible the EU is willing to be post exit.

There were lots of tories threatening to quit the party if she won, might have had something to do with it.

Yes but now we'll have a new prime minister based on the vote of 199 people.

She was Bremain anyway....

Also what is that fuckwit shiteel Grayling doing as her campaign manager, shouldn't he have been backing his fellow Brexiteers?

Why is Labour in their own leadership turmoil when the Tories are in a huge mess? If Labour would be smart they could capitalize on the disarray among the Tories, but no Corbyn is somehow bad, but they don't seem to have any real replacements either. LOL (UK) politics

check Adam Smith here

1st and foremost:

2ndly, we'll see how much the BofE pumps into quantitative easing first

3rd, in your spare time between divining entire national & continental economic futures, why not just knock out a PhD thesis or 2 on these solid facts you've summarized, or more profitably start an economics consultancy in the city while there's still a banking sector left in the capital..... better be quick doe, the rats are deserting this sinking ship quicker than you can say "£250billion bonus from Mark Carney"

Trump is the only one I can see preventing that from happening, so not going to be a problem.

- We are 350m/whateverM a day better off to start with.

It's not 350m, the real figure is around £8.5b a year, so £163m a week. This figure doesn't take into account the indirect economic benefits of EU membership, the UK pays to have access to the single market for a reason.

- India, China, and Russia all want to deal with us directly.

Being a member of the EU doesn't prevent member states from signing trade agreements with those countries, both Britain and Ireland have recently signed trade agreements with China for example. It does place certain limits on what can be agreed, but the losses here would be far less than the losses to the UK economy from a WTO-style deal with the EU (given that around 50% of both the UK's imports and exports are with the EU).

- Farmers in the UK who sell a product no one wants to buy at a price too high for market value and instead rely on government subsidies might be forced to use their considerable land to produce something people do want. Like solar power.

While I agree that CAP is a load of nonsense, farms should not be changed to solar power though, that's just silly. Removing farm subsidies would likely be a boon to the UK agri sector.

- We can actually govern our own country and make our own decisions.

We already do. And the EU is a fully democratic organisation.

- We could, if we wanted to, start manufacturing in the UK again because there is no EU telling us that it is too pollutive.

Manufacturing what? For how much? You really think we can compete with Asia? Maybe you think it's ok to completely remove all the workers rights protections that have been built up over the last 50 years?

This is just nonsense.

a socialist government would destroy the British economy (like it did the last time there was one), thankfully it's not going to happen (the PLP is not socialist, and a Corbyn-friendly labour party would never win an election).

it'll be fine...

but we need a socialist government for it to be fine

tories will fuck it up

Why socialist? So that they can give the £xxxM a week to people who cba to work instead of to the EU?

Another point to remember is that the likely scenario now that May is PM is that Britain will agree to a Norway style agreement with the EU, this means financial contributions to the EU budget, free movement, and free trade (Norway currently pays about £500m a year, the UK economy is over 5 times the size of Norway's, and has a population over 13 times the size). The UK might be lucky to halve that £163m a week.

It would surprise me if the EU were to offer the UK a deal that's as favourable as Norway's. For one, the EU won't want to give other member countries any incentives to leave the union. I'd rather expect the UK to be made an example of.

To nationalise the rail and energy companies. look at the rail and energy companies in the rest of Europe and you'll see what I mean.

I think they'll talk tough, but eventually agree a deal that's favourable to all. It's in the EU's interest to keep the world's 5th 6th biggest economy as close a partner as possible. The EU has a strong negotiating hand though, especially because of the financial passporting requirements of the City (finance is vital to the UK's economy, any damage done there would spell long term recession), so the best the UK can hope for is something like Norway's deal, it's either that or WTO tariffs, collapse of the City, collapse of the property market, and long term recession. I'd say that 80-90% of the MPs in parliament would be in favour of a Norway style deal, the worst that could happen to the Tories during negotiation is a backbench revolt that would trigger a general election, but I don't see that working out in their favour.

If Britain get a sweet deal on brexit other member countries could start jumping ship as well. I don't think it's going to happen.
