"Disappointment"
by Guest barbeque08- 7 replies

Cylob played a DJ set here in LA years ago. Somewhere in the set, he played this electro-funky-idm-y kinda track, then it would screech to a halt. This robotic voice would then inform the crowd, "disappointment". This would make everyone crack up and Cylob would continue to start the track back up, have the groove last a little longer. People began to get back into it, then "RRRRRRRRRRRR"................"disappointment". He repeat, and continually fooled everyone for about 10 minutes. I thought it was brilliant. Does anyone know the actual title of the track? I've spent some time looking on the 'webs but nothing.

Gonjasufi Live/Album
by Guest uiert- 13 replies
- 1.1k views
hey, Recently went to a gig with Gonjasufi and found the production on the tracks he played much preferable to the ones on the album. I do like the album, but found the gritty sound and production of the live stuff much more appealing. I am going to see him live again soon so will try and keep my ears open. Now, has anyone noticed the difference and come across recordings of live shows ?

So my turntable only plays 33.3rpm. If I was to record a 45 at 33 into audacity and speed it up, will it be different than if I recorded directly at 45rpm? I could do it and find out but setting up the shit for nothing doesnt sound appealing. Answer? Cheers.

What got me thinking about him was this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXBlY5CImUU&feature=player_embedded#at=11 I have to admit that I cried when I watched this. OK, maybe he isn't exactly IDM. He is fucking awesome though. Graceland is one of the best albums ever. If I was Joyrex, I'd give him an honorary LTM account. Discuss. also... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBEomCtCujw This song was played at a friend of mine's memorial service recently. So perfect.

Just wanted to recommend this to anyone who hasn't heard it. A really nice album, at least I'm enjoying it at the moment. Right when I typed that, a very third-person-stand-over-shoulder-and-stare-in-awe-of-creativity scene in the album was going on, and I was imagining myself as a radio announcer reading a recommendation for Telephone Jim Jesus (in sepia), and as soon as I pictured myself as the radio announcer, a very radio-announcer voice appeared in the music! (WHOA BOC FORUM (but it really did)). And then my cat twitcher her leg.

Boxcutter - The Dissolve
by Guest MrSparkle666- 1 reply

Wow, I just had my head ripped off by this album. It almost completely passed me by. I liked some of Boxcutter's old stuff and just randomly decided to check out what he has been up to lately. Fucking hell, why isn't this guy getting more attention? The press seems to want to call Boxcutter a dubstep producer, but this album doesn't really have any more in common with dubstep than it does with chillwave or techno. The only common threads on the album are the 2-step beats, and the deep sub-bass. Everything else is a glorious psychedelic, mind-warping mashup. The production is super slick, yet so raw at the same time. There are so many detials going on at once, I don't …

Herbie Hancock
by Guest Greg Reason- 22 replies

Last night I was once again fortunate enough to witness Herbie Hancock live and it really brought home how ahead of the times he always is. I'll admit to not being immensely into his most recent album but hearing him explain the concepts behind it made me appreciate it more; about how he wanted to combine styles of music from all around the world and blend diverse cultures together not only on the same album but the same song, about how we're facing up to globalization and need to make it a unifying thing that works for us in a positive way rather something we're forced into against our will. I've been very heartened to see how many people on this board recognize the…
